Bertrand Russell

Athronydd, Mathemategydd ac awdur oedd Bertrand Arthur William Russell, 3ydd Iarll Russell (18 Mai, 1872 - 2 Chwefror, 1970).

Fe ddaeth o deulu o uchelwyr saesneg, ond yn Nghymru y cafodd ei eni, yn Nhrelech, Sir Fynwy, ac yng Nghymru hefyd y bu farw, ym Mhlas Penrhyn, Penrhyndeudrath (yn yr hen Sir Feirionydd).

Yn ogystal a'i waith academaidd, roedd yn ymgyrchu'n gyhoeddus ar sawl pwnc. Roedd yn sosialydd ac yn heddychwr, ac fe argyhoeddi safbwynt rhyddfrydol radicalaidd.
