Prague is the capital and the biggest city of the Czech Republic.
Prague has been one of the most beautiful European cities since the Middle Ages. Dubbed as the "City of 100 towers" and the "Heart of the Europe", Prague was a crossground, where many merchants, artists and inventors met. The first historical mentions of the initial inhabitants of Vltava river valley dates to about to 500 BC. Slavonic tribes arrived later to Bohemia in about 500 AD.
Prague is a complex of historical monuments and shows all artistic styles. The historical centre of Prague is situated on both banks of the Vltava river. This historical centre consists of the 6 districts, which were once independent cities that were put together in 18th century. Those are Staré Město (Old Town), Josefov (Old Jewish Town), Nové Město (New Town), Malá Strana (Lesser Town), Hradčany (Prague Castle) and Vyšehrad. It was Prince Bořivoj who established the Prague Castle. There are also numerous museums, galleries, theatres, concert halls, and other historical buildings.
