The Doors is one of the most popular rock groups of all-time. Lead by poet/drifter/failed film student, Jim Morrison, accompanied by Ray Manzerik (keyboards), John Densmore (drums) and Robby Krieger (guitar) The group is considered very influential today and are just as (or maybe even more) popular as they were originally.
The group was widely known for its enigmatic frontman, Jim Morrison, who was renowned for his penchant for alcohol and illegal drugs. Morrison often performed concerts while under the influence, sometimes appearing so drunk that he couldn't remember the words to his own song. In one widely-publicized incident, Morrison allegedly exposed himself to the audience, and subsequently faced criminal charges.
Morrison eventually succumbed to his weaknesses, dying in France of a drug overdose.
They were also the inspiration for the 1991 film The Doors. It was directed by Oliver Stone and starred Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison.
