Area
From Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia written in simple English for easy reading.
Area is the amount of space a two dimensional (flat) object takes up. It is useful because it is how much of a material you need to make an empty object, for example how much wood you need to make a wardrobe.
Different shapes have different ways to find the area.
- Area of a rectangle is the length of any two adjacent sides multiplied together.
- Area of a triangle is half of the base multiplied by the perpendicular height. You can find this using the trigonometry formula, A = 1 / 2absinc..
- Area of a circle: A = πr2.
The area under a curve can be found using integration, from calculus.
