Caldecott-medaljen

Caldecott-medaljen eller The Caldecott Medal er en amerikansk bildebokpris som har blitt delt ut av det amerikanske biblioteketforbundet American Library Association hvert år siden 1938. Prisen går til en illustratør for bildene i den mest fremstående amerikanske bildeboka for barn. Prisen er oppkalt etter den engelske 1800-tallsillustratøren Randolph Caldecott. Caldecott-medaljen er sammen med Newbery-medaljen den mest prestisjefylte amerikanske barnebokutmerkelsen.
Selve medaljen ble utformet av Rene Paul Chambellan i 1937.

I tillegg til bøkene som utmerkes med Caldecott-medaljen, velger priskomiteen hvert år såkalte «Caldecott Honor Books», det vil si andre bildebøker som også «fortjener oppmerksomhet». Tidligere ble disse bøkene omtalt som «andreplass-bøker», men fra 1971 tok en i bruk betegnelsen «Caldecott Honor Books».
