On rencontre ce gecko un peu partout dans le monde, il est originaire du continent africain.

[modifier] Paramètres climatiques

Cette espèce nécessite une hygrométrie avoisinant les 50% à 70%, et supporte des températures de 25 à 30°C le jour, et 23 à 25°C la nuit.

[modifier] Élevage en captivité

Il faut un terrarium semi-tropical de grande taille avec un grand nombre de cachettes et de grosses branches. Un fond simulant un mur ou un gros roché est préférable.

Ce reptile se nourrie grillons et de larves de tenebrior, ainsi que de blattes.

A l'état sauvage, entre fréquemment dans les maisons.

Ce gecko est très farouche, et il est impossible de le manipuler.

Il est également très territorial. Il ne faut donc pas faire cohabiter plusieurs mâles ensembles.

Ce gecko est mature un peu avant sa première année.

Assez facile, si l'animal est maintenue dans de bonne condition (terrarium, température, hygrométrie).

Les œufs sont pondus deux par deux.

L'incubation dure deux mois à une température comprise entre 27 à 29°C, et une hygrométrie de 70 à 90% est nécessaire.

Nourrir avec des drosophiles (ou Mouche du vinaigre), des micro-grillons ou des blattes de 3mm (de taille adaptée à leur bouche). Ils doivent être nourrit dés leur premiers jours de vie.
