List of objects in Bionicle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a list of objects unique to Lego Bionicle universe. Information regarding personal weapons belonging to individual characters are not included here, but rather in the characters' articles.
[edit] Collectibles
"Collectibles" are objects whose real-world toy versions are packaged as random assortments, challenging buyers to collect entire sets. Because toys are often designed to feature the current collectibles, these objects are among the best known in Bionicle. In order of appearance:
[edit] Kanohi Masks
Kanohi is the Matoran word for "mask". Kanohi Masks are made from melted down Kanoka Disks. Matoran need to wear basic Kanohi Masks to keep functioning, while Toa and Turaga can wear more powerful ones and use the special abilities that they contain.
[edit] Krana
Krana are mask-like parasites "worn" by the Bohrok, mysterious creatures that once battled the Toa. They are essentially the "brains" of the Bohrok and are made by the Bahrag, twin queens of the Bohrok Swarms.
There are also specialized Krana called Krana-Kal; worn by six elite Bohrok called Bohrok-Kal. How the Krana-Kal or the Bohrok-Kal were made remains a mystery.
[edit] Kraata
Kraata are the Makuta's "offspring", worm-like creatures made from his essence that can infect Kanohi Masks. Kraata can be mutated into Rahkshi armor, which another Kraata can then control. There are 42 known variations that result in 42 known Rahkshi.
[edit] Kanoka Disks
Kanoka Disks are energized disks used on Metru Nui for sport and defense. Each disk has a three-digit code that describes its flight characteristics, powers, and strength.
[edit] Rhotuka Spinners
Rhotuka are wheels of energy that can be created by any living being. The powers are determined by who is launching it, but they cannot actually be made and fired without having some type of launcher, either natural or artificial.
[edit] Zamor Spheres
Zamor Spheres are transparent hollow balls that can be filled with liquids, gases, or kinds of energy. When a Zamor Sphere hits its target, it turns intangible to let its payload take effect.
[edit] Toa items
[edit] Nuva Cube
A mysterious lock that appeared in the Bohrok nest, in front of where the Bahrag were imprisoned. It has six sides, each of which matches a different Nuva Symbol. If the Symbols were put into the place, the Bahrag's prison would be undone. The cube was guarded by the Exo-Toa, and is presumably still in the Bahrag's cavern.
[edit] Nuva Symbols
After the Toa Mata became the Toa Nuva, they received special stone symbols of their powers. These symbols, when kept in their Suva Shrines, would maintain the Nuva elemental powers. The symbols were stolen by the Bohrok-Kal, as they also acted as keys to the lock on the Bahrag's prison. The Bohrok-Kal were undone by the symbols when the Toa fed their power through them into the Bohrok-Kals' shield tools, causing them to overload. The symbols were recovered, and since then have been hidden in more secure locations by the Toa Nuva.
[edit] Spirit Stars
Every Toa has a Spirit Star in the sky above that shines brightly as long as they remain Toa (though sometimes the timing of a star's formation or going out doesn't precisely match the corresponding event; Takanuva's star appeared before he became a Toa, and Lhikan's didn't go out until long after he gave up his Toa power). The position of the star in the sky represents the Toa's location; for instance, the Toa Metru were able to find Lhikan by following his Spirit Star.
[edit] Toa Disks
Each Toa Metru has a Kanoka Disk with their name and mask carved into it, which confirms their status as well as their power. The Toa Disks can unleash the same elemental power as their assigned Toa.
[edit] Toa Stones
A Toa Stone is a stone which has been imbued with a certain amount of Toa Energy, and can be used to transform simple Matoran into powerful Toa. It does not give Toa power to the Matoran, but rather unlocks hidden power that the Matoran already has; so Matoran that are not destined to become Toa will be unaffected by Toa Stones.[1]
So far, there have been two known sets of Toa Stones. The first Toa Stones were given to Vakama, Nokama, Onewa, Whenua, Matau, and Nuju by Toa Lhikan for the purpose of creating new guardian Toa; the Toa Metru. When they arrived on Mata Nui, the Toa Metru made a new set of Toa Stones so that if the worst happens, others could become Toa and guard the Matoran in their place. This second set was used a thousand years later, when Takua gathered them; surprisingly, these did not transform Matoran into Toa, but instead summoned the Toa Mata to Mata Nui.
Other objects known to trigger the transformation into Toa are the Avohkii Mask of Light and lightning from the Red Star (though the lightning has had several side effects, see "Powers" section under Toa Inika).
[edit] Vehicles and Machines
[edit] Boxor
The Boxor vehicle was designed by Nuparu, who discovered an inactive Gahlok during the Bohrok siege of Onu-Koro. Nuparu discovered that the Bohrok were non-living, and were actually machines meant to work with the Krana. With aid from Onepu and Taipu, Nuparu modified the Gahlok shell into a combat vehicle for use against the Bohrok. The Boxor works by using powerful punches to dislodge a Bohrok's Krana. Boxors were used successfully in the liberations of Onu-Koro and Le-Koro, but were defeated by Pahrak in Ga-Koro (as the Boxors sank in deep water). The Boxors were later used against the Bohrok-Kal, but were not very successful. Nuparu continued to make Boxor until the Rahkshi appeared and the Matoran left the island.
[edit] Chute System
The six Metru (districts) of Metru Nui are connected with each other and with outlying regions by a complex system of chutes, which are controlled by the Moto-Hub in Le-Metru. The chutes consist of a flow of liquid protodermis, held in place and directed by a magnetic field.
Although the flow is slowed down enough to jump in and out at designated stations, some daredevil Matoran like to try and jump in through the magnetic field during the split seconds that it wavers (though if they time their jump wrong, they could either hit the field hard or get hit by passing cargo). An even greater danger is when some of the magnetic energy folds in on itself and breaks off, forming a force sphere; force spheres will fly through the chutes drawing in anything that gets too close until it grows so big that it implodes.
[edit] Exo-Toa
Exo-Toa are special suits of powered armor that Toa can wear; they can also be programmed to act on their own. Each Exo-Toa is equipped with a claw arm and an electro-rocket, and it can enhance the strength of the Toa wearing it by several times. However, it also blocks the elemental powers of its wearer.
In the time of the Toa Hagah, the Brotherhood of Makuta used Exo-Toa as part of their army, which included Visorak and the Dark Hunters. Thousands of years later, six Exo-Toa were found in the Bohrok's nest by the Toa Mata; the Toa tried to use the armor to defeat the Bohrok Queens, the Bahrag, but found the lack of elemental powers too much of a liability. When the Bohrok-Kal later tried to free the Bahrag, these six Exo-Toa were reduced to scrap metal trying to stop them. Nuparu has since salvaged the scrap intending to study it, but had little time to do so before becoming a Toa Inika. Despite the large number of Exo-Toa that were destroyed by Norik and Iruni, the Brotherhood still has a unknown number that they deploy in combat.[2]
[edit] Nektann
Robotic, auto-targeting turrets that fire concussive blasts. The Piraka have built several Nektann to guard their stronghold. Nektann are armored all over except on the bottom, and have the ability to reassemble themselves after being destroyed. In the Voya Nui Online Game, there are several other varieties of Nektann. The Repair Nektann that can heal other units and the "Debuff" Nektann that weaken enemies' abilites; all of these are mobile, with four insectoid legs, but lack the impenetrable armor of the stationary versions. There are also Black Nektann, who boost abilities to opponments in range. Combat Nektann, on the other hand, have a very strong fire attack. Zaktan's Master Nektann have super strong defense. Scout Nektann can detect you from a far range. Defense Nektann, although not much in ability, they can pack a punch.
[edit] Toa Canisters
For long sea voyages, Toa and other beings tend to travel in airtight canisters instead of boats. Several sets of canisters have been hidden around the world for Toa - specifically the Toa Mata - to use.
- The Toa Mata used canisters to travel to Mata Nui from an unknown location; the Piraka later hijacked them to get to Voya Nui.[3]
- These Toa, after becoming Toa Nuva, travelled from Metru Nui to Voya Nui by another set of canisters.
- Vezon got to Voya Nui using a canister that once belonged to an Order of Mata Nui member.
- Six Matoran going to aid the Toa Nuva found canisters in the realm of Karzahni and used them to escape; upon arriving at Voya Nui these canisters were struck by lightning from the Red Star and their passengers emerged as Toa Inika.
A Matoran who helped build the canisters described them as being built "in the world that feeds the world. The wellspring of flame that blazes bright, yet burns none but its bearer. And he, oh, he it burns until there is nothing left, not even ashes." However, this Matoran's sanity is in question.[4]
[edit] Ussanui
A hoverbike-like vehicle made mainly from Rahkshi parts and powered by Kraata. It was used by Toa Takanuva to get to Mangaia, home of the Makuta. It was destroyed when Takanuva slammed it into Mangaia's entrance gate.
[edit] Visorak Battle Ram
A mobile siege tower used by the Visorak. It moves on four legs by the power of four Visorak yoked to it. A monstrous face is usually mounted on the front to frighten enemies, and it is equipped with a large catapult.
[edit] Other items
[edit] Amana Volo Sphere
Sometimes when an infected Kanohi Mask is removed from a Rahi, dark energy is released and forms an Amana Volo sphere. This energy can then be absorbed by others and used for healing.
[edit] Madu Fruit
Madu are green coconut-like fruit with volatile juices that Matoran use as throwing weapons. Unripe red Madu, called Madu Cabolo, are especially explosive.
[edit] Makoki Stones
The Makoki stones (literally, "key stones") are six stones that act as keys to a lock somewhere.
Six thousand years before the Great Cataclysm, they existed as a single stone tablet, guarded in a besieged Toa fortress. Just as the Makoki stone was going to be moved to a more secure location, Hakann and Vezok infiltrated the fortress and stole it. The Dark Hunters then recruited the two thieves and claimed the stone for themselves.
Four thousand years later, during the war between the Toa and the Dark Hunters, Hakann caught Toa Lhikan overhearing Toa Nidhiki's betrayal. Knowing Lhikan would lay a trap and win the war, Hakann offered Lhikan the Makoki stone in exchange for the Hunters' freedom. Lhikan agreed and the deal went through, but six months later the Dark Hunters stole the stone back and sold it to the Brotherhood of Makuta, splitting it into six pieces to get six times the ransom. However, the stones were later stolen fromt the Brotherhood by the Toa Hagah.
The Makoki stones were next seen two thousand years later just after the Great Cataclysm, when the Toa Hordika collected them in order to claim the Avohkii Mask of Light that the Rahaga had locked away. And a thousand years after that, the Toa Mata each received one when they collected a full set of Kanohi Masks; and used them at the Kini-Nui Temple to open the path to Makuta's lair, Mangaia.
What very few people know is that the Makoki stones are inscribed with hardly visible scratches that form near-indecipherable letters, with the inscription detailing the operations of the Brotherhood of Makuta: names of members, locations of fortresses, etc. The only ones known for sure to be aware of the stone's true value are Vezok and the Shadowed One; Lhikan and the Brotherhood were known to be ignorant of the inscription.
[edit] Matoran Spheres
Similar to Toa Canisters, Matoran placed into these pods will not only go into suspended animation, but will also eventually physically weaken and lose their memory. Makuta put the entire population of Metru Nui into spheres as part of his plans, and the Toa Metru later moved these spheres to Mata Nui and woke the Matoran inside.
[edit] Red Star
The Red Star is an exceptionally bright celestial body that travels through the sky over the planet. By moving into formation with other stars, it forms constellations that can foretell the near future. The Red Star recently discharged a lot of electrical energy and caused a thunderstorm over the island of Voya Nui. Six lightning bolts from the star hit Toa Canisters and transformed the Matoran inside into the Toa Inika.
[edit] Volo Lutu Launcher
The Volo Lutu launcher essentially works as a grappling hook; Matoran can not only use it to grab objects from a distance, but can anchor the "hook" and use the cord's elasticity to launch themselves across gaps. Takua used a Volo Lutu Launcher when he was looking for the Toa Stones on Mata Nui.
[edit] Vuata Maca Tree
Each village on Mata Nui had a Vuata Maca tree, which appeared to be a major source of food for the Matoran. When the Turaga were captured shortly before the Toa Mata arrived, the Vuata Maca trees were poisoned and each required two Vuata Maca Crystals to cure them.
