Abkhazia is a self-proclaimed republic of 8,600 km² (3,300 sq.mi.) in the Caucasus. It is a de jure autonomous republic within Georgia, but is de facto independent of Georgia, although the world's countries do not officially recognise it. The capital is Sukhumi.
