Lady Jane Grey

Lady Jane Grey was born on October 12, 1537. She was the great-granddaughter of Henry VII of England and the niece of Henry VIII of England.
Jane became Queen of England for nine days. Edward, 1st Duke of Somerset helped to make Jane the Queen. Some people wanted Jane to be Queen because she was a Protestant. Mary I of England should have been the Queen instead. However many people did not want Mary to be the Queen because she was a Roman Catholic.
There was a small war between Jane and Mary, but Mary won. Mary had Jane's head cut off because her husband, Philip II of Spain, did not like Jane. Jane died on February 12, 1554 at the Tower of London, London. She was only 16 years old. Mary then became queen.
