Thanks for stopping by. I've been a user of this encyclopaedia for well, a couple of months now (this is written in July 2005). I ran into this media first when I was looking for god-knows-what on Yahoo! and found this very detailed website. That got me hooked and instilled a little desire to contribute.
You will see that I have contributed to the Wikipedia Indonesia especially the along the fringes of 'popular culture'. I'm not a fan of popular culture so I try to stay away from its mainstream as much as possible. My definition of 'the fringes of popular culture' includes physical definition of things like, the definition of time, ephemeris time, atomic clock, etc. So, probably I write more on the physics stuff. Maybe that tells one thing or two about my affinity. You know, these things are pretty mundane, but it is very easy to overlook their historical significance. People (mostly from the Western culture) developed these things over, oh well, maybe 3000 years, to come up to these things as we know it. When we take these things for granted, then that will be the time the as a people we will be run over by other people of the more 'conscious' culture.
Anyway, thanks for checking out my 'handle' name. Look me up in the HF frequencies, too, OK?
[sunting] Interesting Observation of the RRI Time Signal
Ah, it turned out that I was a bit off (euphimism, indeed, I was waaay off). The RRI time signal is pretty close to that of NIST as compared by using NIST computer time service. The next challenge is to determine at the second level, how much RRI is varied from other sources. One thing I noticed is that the 5 MHz frequency is jammed by several stations trying to broadcast time signal all at the same time. These include a Japanese station, Chinese station (BPM), and the NIST (WWVH). So, good luck in trying to locate one of them.
Aside from the RRI (with data fed by the BMG, see below), LIPI is another institution running an atomic clock. Their data is submitted to BIPM.
