Vallensbæk

Vallensbæk is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Copenhagen County on the east coast of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality, the second smallest in area in Denmark after Frederiksberg covers an area of 9,15 km², and has a total population of 12,260 (2005). Its mayor is Kurt Hockerup, a member of the Conservative People's Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti) political party.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Vallensbæk Strand.
Neighboring municipalities are Brøndby to the east, Albertslund to the north, and Høje-Taastrup and Ishøj to the west. To the south is Køge Bay (Køge Bugt).
Vallensbæk municipality will not be merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
The municipality has a beach, a marina, and the Vallensbæk Marsh (Vallensbæk Mose) recreation area.
