Speaker of the Stars

The Speaker of the Stars is a fictional position of honor among the Silvanesti elves in the Dragonlance series of fantasy novels. The Speaker of the Stars is equivalent to a King or Queen for the Silvanesti. Silvanos Goldeneye, first Speaker, united all the elven families under him and created the title of Speaker. The position is usually hereditary. The line of succession includes the firstborn son, followed by the firstborn daughter, the secondborn son, and so on. If there are no living children, the role will go to one of the brothers of the Speaker. No mention of an instance of a brother assuming the position is made in the books, although it is possible that some of the "unknown" speakers listed below succeeded to the position in this manner.

- Silvanos Goldeneye (4000-2515 PC) - united all the elven families under himself, forming Silvanesti.
- Sithel Silvanos (2515-2192 PC) - father to Kith-Kanan and Sithas Silvanos. He tried keeping the nations of Silvanesti and Ergoth at peace, however he was killed while hunting, beginning the Kinslayer Wars.
- Sithas Silvanos ( 2192-1813 PC) - was the Speaker during the Kinslayer Wars. His father was assassinated and so he became Speaker.
- Unknown (1813-? PC) - Sithas's son who ruled here was unknown, as was the amount of time he ruled. When he died, his heir was too young to be Speaker, so his brother took over.
- Elender Silvanos (1793-1740 PC) - Another son of Sithas, was only Speaker because the rightful heir was too young.
- Unknown (1740-? PC) - presumably the rightful heir came upon the throne after Elander, but this is unknown. The number of Speakers, their names, and the length of their rules is unknown until Nethas.
- Nethas Caladon (?-approx. 553 PC) - sent Kerrick Fallabrine, founder of Icereach, into exile.
- Maradoc Caladon (approx 553-approx 270 PC) - not much is known, only his name and years of ruling.
- Lorac Caladon (approx 39 PC- 351 AC) - sent the Silvanesti away during the War of the Lance. He attempted to use the Dragon Orb, however the land was sent into a nightmare and the land was ruined. Some of the Heroes of the Lance free him, but he dies shortly after.
- Alhana Starbreeze (351-382 AC) - eventually declared a dark elf and banished from Silvanesti, she is the daughter of Lorac.
- Reyl Konnal (382-421 AC) - not a rightful or true Speaker, he was a governor who took over once Alhana was gone. He raised the shield around Silvanesti, and died when he found out Cyan Bloodbane was in fact under the shield.
- Silvanoshei Caladon (421 AC) - son of Alhana and Porthios, he went through the shield and became Speaker. He went to Sanction, following Mina, and he killed Takhisis there. Mina slayed him in turn.
[edit] Speaker of the Sun and Stars
The Speaker of the Sun and Stars is the title attributed the new leader of the combined elven nations. This new elven nations is currently living in exile in Khur, a nation on the continent of Ansalon. The nation is composed of combined Silvanesti, Qualinesti, and Kagonesti elves.
Gilthas is now the first Speaker of the Sun and Stars. He was already leader of the Qualinesti, having the title Speaker of the Suns. Alhana Starbreeze, his aunt, made him Speaker of the Stars as well, following the death of her son, Silvanoshei. The Silvanesti would have refused this because Gilthas is tainted with human blood. However, they accepted, only because he shares the blood of Silvanos Goldeneye, the founder of Silvanesti.
