Shade River

The Shade River is a short tributary of the Ohio River in southeastern Ohio in the United States. Via the Ohio, it is part of the watershed of the Mississippi River, draining an area of 221 mi² (572 km²).[1] According to the Geographic Names Information System, it has also been known historically as "Devils Hole Creek."[2]
The Shade River flows for most of its length as three streams, its West Branch, Middle Branch and East Branch.[3][4][5] The branches rise in southern Athens County and flow generally southeastwardly through eastern Meigs County, where they converge near the communities of Chester and Keno. The Shade joins the Ohio River in Meigs County near the community of Long Bottom.[6]
