Sally Floyd is also the name of an eminent network researcher based at the ICSI Center for Internet Research.
Sally Floyd is a fictional reporter in the Marvel Comics universe.
[edit] Character History
Sally Floyd first appeared as a writer for The Alternative newspaper after M-Day, the day on which millions of mutant lost their special abilities.
Sally had a daughter, Minnie, who died as a result of a mutation that caused her to grow younger and younger. Sally's drinking problem is directly tied to this tragic circumstance.
Taking over from fellow reporter Jessica Jones, Sally investigated several M-Day cases. She wrote about well-known mutants who lost their powers, such as Chamber, Danielle Moonstar, the Blob, and Marrow.
Sally worked with former X-Man Jubilee, another depowered mutant, and met Warren Wortington (Archangel), who pretended to be depowered. Warren and Sally had a relationship, but it had run its course by the time that Sally published the details about the death of her child. Upon learning this information, Warren tried to comfort her.
During these interviews Sally also got to meet the X-Men, and helped them bring mutant murderer Ghoul to justice. After this victory, Sally gained the strength to attend an AA meeting, and embarked on the road to recovery from her alcoholism.
Sally continues to be an active reporter, speaking to Spider-Man just before he unmasked himself. Spider-Man has stated that Sally is one of only three reporters he trusts. In Civil War: Front Line #2 Sally conducted an interview with former New Warrior Firestar, and protested when Iron Man violently apprehended Prodigy.
Sally is strongly opposed to the Superhuman Registration Act and is embedded with Captain America's anti-Registration forces. In Front Line #5, Sally is arrested for refusing to reveal her sources after being "held up" (with a banana) by an unknown character, (possibly Nick Fury).
In Civil War Frontline #1 Spider-Man revealed that he respects Sally because of her interview with Marrow, which he judged to have been fair.
