Rice Military, Houston, Texas

Rice Military is a neighborhood in Houston, Texas.
The boundaries of the Rice Military neighborhood are Washington Avenue on the north, Memorial Drive on the south, Shepherd Drive on the east, and Westcott Street on the west.[1] Rice Military, which is inside the 610 Loop, is next to Memorial Park.
The area was named "Rice" as the people who owned it were members of the Rice family; the Rice family included William Marsh Rice, who founded the Rice Institute (now Rice University).
The area is now mostly upper-middle class.

Rice Military is in Texas's 7th congressional district [1].

The neighborhood is within the Houston Police Department's Central Patrol Division [2].

The area is zoned to the following Houston ISD schools: Memorial Elementary School (in the neighborhood), Hogg Middle School, and Lamar High School (in the Upper Kirby district).
St. Theresa School, a Roman Catholic K-8 School that is a part of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, is in the area.[2]
