[edit] Plot summary
Raised in foster care, Matthew Freeman was never a normal boy. At a young age his parents died in a car accident and Matthew was sent to live with his mother's half-sister and boyfriend, both neglectful and not fit for parenthood. After "Kelvin" a supposed friend coaxes him into trying to steal DVDs from a local warehouse, a horrible crime is committed and Matt is pulled into the hands of the law. He is sent to Yorkshire as part of a rehabilitation programme, named the LEAF Project, only to find himself in the midst of sinister happenings. And Matt soon discovers that all of Lesser Malling are in on demonic plans set against him and the entire world! He decides to investigate and uncovers a great secret - a group of rebels called the Nexus are struggling to protect the world from evil beings known as The Old Ones who were banished long ago by only five children, 4 boys and 1 girl. Yet the devil worshippers of Yorkshire want to let them back in to the human world, and Matt realises that he is one of the five children prophecised to stop the Old Ones. With the help of the mysterious group known as the Nexus, and the reluctant journalist Richard Cole, Matt must find a way to stop Raven's Gate from being opened once again, and thus prevent the apocalyptic Old Ones from being released on an unsuspecting world.
From the author of Stormbreaker and Scorpia, Anthony Horowitz' Raven's Gate is part of a series called the Power of Five, in which as of today there are two books, Raven's Gate and the recently released Evil Star.
