[edit] Indian cinema
Pournami, there is a new Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian cinema that you may be interested in. Tintin Talk 13:14, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Chemmeen
Apart from joining the project as Tintin suggested above, could you please create an article for Chemmeen? imo, it was one movie that lifted the standards of Malayalam Cinema to great height; it is unfortunate that it is unrepresented yet on Wikipedia. TIA, --Gurubrahma 17:58, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
started an article on Chemmeen --Pournami 15:15, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Pournami, that was fast, thanks a ton! Best wishes for a prosperous Pongal!! I have also worked on the article a bit - Tintin had some queries on the talkpage. I am not sure about the meaning of Chemmeen - is it Waves or Prawns? Whatever it is, can you please add it, after the introduction section? You may want to expand the plot and also mention that all the three protagonists die, as I have added the spoiler tags. Also, as it reached a reasonable size of around 500 words, I strongly felt that your effort should get exposure and have nominated it for DYK - it should be on the main page either on Friday or Monday/Tuesday. The suggested entry reads "*... that Chemmeen a popular Malayalam novel, was made into a colour Cinemascope film, one of the first in Malayalam film industry? -- Article by User:Pournami; nom by Gurubrahma 22:09, 12 January 2006 (UTC)" If you want to change it to something more appealing, list the alternative suggestion below this original suggestion at the talkpage of DYK. Whenever you create an article, please mention your references, so that the article conforms to WP:V. I also found that Prem Nazir was in a bad shape and tried to clean up. Even worse was Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai which was hoaxy and claimed that he had a nobel prize. I have cleaned this up & added stuff to make it a proper stub. You may want to have a look at these / add to your watchlist. Thanks again for starting Chemmeen, --Gurubrahma 23:49, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- I'll keep in mind what WP:V says about giving sources; next time onwards. Still finding my way around wp. --Pournami 17:14, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mahatma Gandhi move
Hi Pournami, I have reverted his changes to both articles and as such I believe the procedure that you mention is not required. As I understand it, the procedure needs to be applied in the hypothetical situation when Mahatma Gandhi is moved to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi using manual copy-paste move and we need the article to stay at Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi but have the history of Mahatma Gandhi be reflected there. That is not the case here and so the procedure is not required. I hope I am clear enough. btw, it is heartening to see you getting active in general and wrt Mahatma Gandhi in particular. --Gurubrahma 07:17, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Oops, I am not clear myself - I've put your query on Wikipedia talk:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Watchlist that page. --Gurubrahma 07:43, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

- What you did seems logical, but I am not sure. Let's wait for others' comments. --Gurubrahma 12:41, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MG
Hi Pournami - I hope you will contribute to the Wikipedia:Peer review/Mahatma Gandhi. We are trying to solve some important issues and could really use your help. I've noticed you've made many good edits and are involved in the article regularly.
I wanted to make sure I addressed your point about R. Gandhi's Patel bio being a primary source. It is the primary source for all the info I've put in - the book extensively discusses wide-ranging events - Gandhi's life, thinking and philosophy are major - apart from Patel's own life.
I don't see any issue with this, especially as a lot of info in "Early life" and "South Africa" comes from Gandhi's autobiography. A resource is a resource in the end, and if you feel strongly, you should input data and cite from a Gandhi biography. Thanks. Rama's Arrow 06:05, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] self talk at gandhi talk archive 1: moving here
User: Pournami intends to reorganize the talk archives of the Mahatma Gandhi article. Before this is done, just in case the process gets all messed up, above links to previous states of archives. Of course, it's all there in the talk page histories, I just list it here for self-reference, for the time being, only to check if I'm doing it right. Hope this is ok. Other editors are welcome to undo what I might do, I'm just trying to make sense of the discussions, prevent recurring of exact same arguments over archived and current page, which result in awfully long and incoherent talk archive. Hope this attempt helps in the ongoing efforts to improve article. --Pournami 20:02, 10 February 2006 (UTC). (left to do (prob next weekend): rm all excess comments by myself from all the several archives, incl this 'to do', and rm things like:'this was copied from arc1' etc, cl all archives, make uniform, change section headers in all archives to reflect section content, add a line or two (summary+pointing) in main talk head para, abt stuff already discussed at length, scan newly created arcs for stuff not belonging there, see if need for further rearrangement, hopefully not, by then, and then, finally read all archive pages, to see if "coherence" has been achieved. --Pournami)

highly unsatisfied with my messing up of gandhi archives. should have used better summaries.
[edit] When Ghandhi Advises Violence
Hi, Pournami. Sorry, I did not realize "the gandhi article is currently undergoing a process of size compression". There was nothing on the article page to alert anyone and I do not usually check the Talk pages unless I think my edit might be controversial. Perhaps, the {{attention}} template message should added to the article. Is there some other article you think is more appropriate for my edits?--DieWeibeRose 06:23, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] K.R. Narayanan PR
Sure, Pournami. I will add my comments/suggestions in the corresponding PR page. AreJay 16:09, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- I've glanced through the article and find that Rama's arrow and AreJay have given all the comments that I'd have given. It has good content and I appreciate your effort. I would like to help with copyediting once other objections are cleared. -- Sundar \talk \contribs 08:12, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sardar Patel PR
Hi Pournami - Sardar Patel is in peer review. I know you're busy with K.R. Narayanan, but I hope you will have some time to check it out. Rama's Arrow 16:37, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Surprise!!
[Barnstar moved to userpage]
Hi Pournami, I am impressed with the work you have done on Wikipedia so far. Though in terms of number of edits and activity levels, it appears to be on the lower side, all your contributions have been substantial, such as those in re-categorising the archives of Talk:Mahatma Gandhi. It is good to see you giving some attention to The Hindu as well apart from K. R. Narayanan. I believe you deserve a barnstar for your efforts. You may want to put it on your user page if you like it. Keep up the good work, --Gurubrahma 05:13, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] ref tags in included pages
Hello! I'd just like to tell you that if you use <ref> tags in pages which are included from another page, they screw up the page they're being included in due to a mediawiki bug, so they shouldn't be used in those situations. I removed your tags from Wikipedia:Peer review/K. R. Narayanan due to Wikipedia:Peer review being bugged - I think I got your references right, but you should probably check. --Fuzzie (talk) 17:40, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, I don't think Fuzzie left you this note to reprimand you, but rather to warn you that he had changed your signed comments, and wanted to let you know. We should perhaps leave a note on the page, since it is unreasonable to expect people to know about a fairly new bug. Cheers, keep doing good work. Makemi 05:31, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Makemi is quite right, you couldn't be expected to know and it wasn't your fault at all - I just wanted to make sure you weren't surprised by my edit! --Fuzzie (talk) 06:01, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Hindu
Hi Pournami, I did not quite understand your message. I understand that it is frustrating when you make edits and they are reverted. I have not edited The Hindu for some time due to the edit warring in that article. Please let me know what you think I could do that could improve the situation. However, I must confess that my desire to see improvement in the article is counterbalanced by the desire to avoid becoming involved in what appears may be conflict without end. So please make your suggestions of how I may help, but understand that my help may be limited. --BostonMA 20:54, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Pournami, Thank you for your explanation. But I had merely pointed the POV issues in that article ;I have not said anything about any particular editors working "together" to bring a 'certain' POV . And I think all my queries about the article were in accordance with Wikipedia:Wikiquette. I highly appreciate your explanation, but still think it was quite unnecessary .Bharatveer 07:06, 2 May 2006 (UTC)Bharatveer 07:12, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
I like to correct my grammar wherever I can.I don't think it is improper to do so in talk pages.I think the wiki policy is to "sign" all your comments . Is it not?? Again, I think it is improper on your part to remove your comments from my talk page. RegardsBharatveer 07:40, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Why did you remove all your comments from my talk page? Bharatveer 08:03, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Always cool & No offense taken.Let's try to make the article better. But I feel that there is a need for further editing to make the article More NPOV . Bharatveer 11:39, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Pls see the talkpage :KRN . what do you think of it??Bharatveer 12:04, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
