Liselle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Liselle is a fictional character in the five-part fantasy book series, The Malloreon, the sequel series to The Belgariad, authored by David Eddings.
The Margravine Liselle is a Drasnian spy, and is in fact the niece of The Margrave Khendon (Javelin), the head of Drasnian intelligence.
She accompanies Belgarion and his friends on their quest to rescue the young king's kidnapped son, often carrying a small, very venomous green snake named, Zith, in her bodice. She goes by the code name, "Velvet", and from the outset, shows more than a little romantic interest in Belgarion's friend and her fellow spy, Silk (Prince Kheldar of Drasnia).
"Velvet", it is eventually learned, is the most top-secret spy of the Drasnia's network, and so bears the code name, "Hunter". Her task, as "Hunter", is to assassinate Harakan, a Grolim and leader of the troublesome "Bear Cult". She accomplishes this by throwing Zith in his face.
Throughout "The Malloreon", Velvet seduces Silk and eventually wins his heart. They are married and is later mentioned to be pregnant with his child.
