[edit] Moving the page
I'm not sure moving this page was the best idea just yet. From what I've seen, English Wikipedia manga go under the most common name; thus Tetsuwan Atom is under Astro Boy, but Lum is under Urusei Yatsura. Kodocha is not the proper title of the Japanese or English versions of the manga or the anime. I'll never know why Tokyopop chose the name they did, instead of sticking with "Kodomo no Omocha" or its translation, "Child's Toy", but in any case, I think it's a little early to say which title will it will be best known by. Probably we can't judge that until the anime is released in the US.
Point being, though, at a minimum Kodocha really should be a redirect to one of Kodomo no Omocha, Child's Toy, or Kodocha: Sana's Stage, not the actual page itself. Bigpeteb 14:15, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC)

You're right, Bigpeteb, I wasn't thinking when I set up this page. It really should be under Kodocha: Sana's Stage if that's what they're using, I just stuck it under what I thought of when I first thought of when I decided to start the article. - Oppose: Kodomo no Omocha would probably be the best title, but Kodocha is how it is known to most everyone. We have four items, the Japanese manga and anime and the English manga and anime. - Oppose: I'm the IP person who set up this page and later commented (above), and I've changed my mind since the release of the anime in English- Kodocha: Sana's Stage is what I presumed it would be called, but it isn't- it's simply known as 'Kodocha'. [edit] Legal issues?
Major cuts were made: the dub has removed references to Rei being Sana's "pimp" as well as shortening or completely cutting scenes of violence. For example, the scene where Hayama strangles Sana has been shortened, and the where Rei pushes Itomisu and Yasuda when trying to save Sana is cut completely. These decisions were due to legal issues, and were not decisions made by FUNimation

Not of any EDITING, there isn't. Exhaustive evaluations have been done, and not one frame has been cut. I have made the change, and added a citation to Anime Prime, a comprehensive anime editing clearinghouse. Some language was toned down in the dub version, and the mentioned audio edits do exist and have been documented on the DVD menus themselves. --JSevakis

The first two episodes of the Kodocha dub are cut somewhat, however, for the third episode, they switched directors and the dub will now be uncut for the remaining episodes. Also, the subtitled version on the DVD is uncut. doinkies changed the section on FUNi's release to reflect this since previously it gave the impression that all of the Kodocha eps released so far are cut. Let's clarify the term "cut" -- the English dub rewrote some sections, but no footage was removed. Nothing was "cut". --JSevakis

As I haven't read the manga yet, I'm not entirely sure about this.
"Keiko Sakai is Sana's birth mother. She gave birth to Sana when she was only 14 (her uncle made her pregnant, and she gave birth in a bathtub)." "Takeshi Gojyo (anime only) is Sana's birth father, but he does not know it."
This makes Gojyo the uncle that raped Keiko? I find this hard to believe. I'm currently watching the raws for the Gojyo episodes with some very lousy translations, but this accusation doesn't seem to fit his character. Where does the "uncle" statement come from? The manga? I don't seem to remember this in the anime.

To be frank, I'm not sure why the Fansubs section contains the info in the first place. Perhaps a different heading is more appropriate. At any rate, the old information about the OVA coming out after the TV series is incorrect. Rather, the OVA comes out first, and (speculation) is likely serves as the pilot of the TV series. The air date given in that page is incorrect though. Although the start date is likely correct, Kodomo no Omocha is 102 weekly half-hour episodes. This means that given normal scheduling, it should last until 1998. And Kodomo no Omocha did not get special twice/week schedule. If it does, it would've been an exceptionally unique situation that's unheard of in any other TV shows and would've been mentioned in many sources.
