Hunters of the Dusk is the seventh book in The Saga of Darren Shan by Darren Shan. This is part of the Vampire War trilogy.

This shows Darren Shan 5 years after his last encounter with the vampaneze. Now that he is an active member in the vampire community, Darren once again is visited by Mr. Desmond Tiny. Their brief encounter sends a more experienced Darren Shan on a quest to find and kill the Vampaneze Lord whom is prophecies to destroy the Vampire clan in a great war, this prophecy can be adverted if and only if one of the three chosen vampire hunters could kill the lord and Darren is one of them. He sets out from Vampire Mountain with Mr Crepsley and Harkat Mulds and, on the way to Evanna's (a witch whom can guide them on their way), on the way they meet the final member of their party, another prince, Vancha March. Upon meeting Evanna, Darren learns that after the war between the vampires and vampeaneze is over a great evil known as the Lord of Shadows will arise bringing horrible tragedy upon the world, their actions cannot advert this from coming to pass, all they can do is decide whom the Lord will be, if the the hunters fail to kill the Vampeaneze lord he will rise to power, but if they suceed the young prince Darren shall change into the most malevolent evil ever to be if he wants to or not. After they leave Evanna's, the witch accompanying, the go back to the Cirque Du Freak where their true quest and worries will begin.

- In Harkat's dreams there is a vast wasteland, a witch, dragons, a pit of stakes, and shadow men. These are foreshadowings to book ten The Lake of Souls.
- When Desmond Tiny is coming Harakat says the Dragon Master is coming, also a reference to book ten.
- Harkat says in his Dreams Mr. Tiny throws a dragon brain at him, this is a reference to The Stone of Blood which Kurda Smalt tried to steal in book six The Vampire Prince. This only makes sense if you have read book eleven The Lord of Shadows
