The Stone of Blood

The Stone of Blood is a mystical stone from the Darren Shan series of books.
When entering into the Vampire clan a vampire puts some of their blood into the stone and takes some back so they are one with the clan. With the stone other vampires can sense your presence and find out where you are, this is also a great weakness because if their immortal enemies the Vampeaneze ever got a hold of the stone they could find the position of every vampire on the planet and thus thwart any attempt of a fight because they could easily track them down and kill them.
Despite this the vampires refuse to get rid of the stone because there is a prophecy that states if the vampire clan should fall the stone of blood would bring them back from the ashes to victory.
