[edit] Greg Wain
Hi, I noticed that you created this article, and that your user name "GW06" suggests that it may be about you. I'd like to recommend that you read WP:AUTO before you go any further. It's not against the rules to create articles about yourself, but it is frowned on and tends to generate a negative reaction from other editors. It's quite likely that your article will be put up for deletion discussion soon... should that happen, I hope you won't take it personally and will continue to contribute to Wikipedia. Thanks. - Motor (talk) 09:59, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for responding positively. It is unlikely that the article will be speedy deleted just because someone suspects that it was written by Greg Wain himself. What is likely to happen is that it will be submitted for "discussion" regarding possible deletion. You can find out about that process here: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion -- that discussion would last up to five days. The main discussions will likely revolve around the issue of "notabilty". I added some information at the top of the article to help you familiarise yourself with this concept as it relates to Wikipedia articles. NOTE: It hasn't actually been submitted for deletion discussion yet, I'm just ensuring that you know what is going on when/if it does.
- As for changing your user name, start here: Wikipedia:Changing username. Thanks - Motor (talk) 10:26, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Response
I should add that there is some confusion over 'Greg Wain'. I gathered from your comment that you assumed Greg Wain created his own page. This is not the case. I know the user name is Gw06, but that username belongs to me, and I represent a 3rd party not directly affiliated with Mr. Wain. I'm sorry for any confusion. Once again I'm sorry for the big mess. I'll clarify; Yes I am Jeremy Tozer, with the usernames Gw06 and JonoL, and as I write this I'm reading about how to change the usernames and fix it all up. Thanks guys, please bear with me. Cheers Gw06 11:20, 9 June 2006 (UTC) |
- Ok, thanks for clearing it up. However, I strongly suggest that you pick one user name and stick with it. Few things irritate wikipedia editors more than people using multiple accounts AKA... sock puppet (Internet) and Wikipedia:Sock puppetry. Hope this helps and good luck editing in future. - Motor (talk) 11:50, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes, please do not edit with both names like you have been doing. Please pick one and use that one from now on. Metros232 12:56, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
