- Gautam Chatterjee was the genius who single-handedly brought about the genesis of new directional music in Bengal
Single handedly? Wasn't there any other singer?
- Bangla gaan meant a comfortably seated dhoti/sari clad figure monotonously emitting Rabindra Sangeet or adhunik gaan in strangely subdued mannerisms and tones
Couldn't anyone listen to music without wearing a dhoti/sari? Wasn't there any music other than rabindasangeet?
- Gautam burst forth in such scenario with totally new energy, new sound, new stagecraft, new dress code and jolted Bengalis out of their stupor
- He made Bengalis aware that any song can be sung accompanied by the guitar
- So as the journey continued Gautam became a myth, a legend, an icon....................
