Calling Your Name is the debut album by singer/songwriter Azure Flame, first released on July 5, 2005.
It is not uncommon for music celebrities to dabble in literature, fashion design, and many other art forms simultaneously. But a broad spectrum of this degree rarely accompanies a debut from an artist who has seemingly fallen from the sky. The colorfully written debut EP from Florida-based Italian native, Azure Flame, which was released July 5th and is currently available in most music stores and online, may not only change the way we perceive pop music stars, but quite possibly even demand a brand new musical genre. The solo female performer formerly of Odessa, Texas, has somehow managed to harmoniously merge the hybrid mind of Mozart and Oprah with the flash of David Lee Roth and daring cosmetic flair of Boy George into a contemporary New Romantics style that the 80's could have only dreamt of. Electronic and enthusiastic, Calling Your Name is a bright, warm collage of techno and euro synthpop, built with hooks and melodies that have come dangerously close to being eradicated by today's digital capabilities.
The only child of a concerto pianist and a prodigy of art, Azure Flame's peacock showmanship and "gameshow host-like personality" strengthen and demonstrate the refreshing positivity and messages of self-reliance which are quite abundant in her lyrics. Though easy on the eyes, Azure seems to rely far more heavily on words of encouragement and articulate demands for respect than sensuality. Leading by example, Azure proves with her story-based, self-produced compositions and sincerity that even a voluptuous brunet with a South Beach tan can scrape by on intelligence and dignity, albeit with the aid of infectious bass grooves.
Azure Flame's debut serves as just enough of a taste of what's to come with her follow up full-length album to stir up a new craving - and standard - in the pop music scene. Azure's autobiography, Drama Queen of the Mirrored Walls, along with two other literary projects are expected to be released within the next year. Information on all of Azure Flame's projects, including her line of fashion designs and charity work, can be found on her official web site at www.azureflame.com.
