- Autobiography: Drama Queen of the Mirrored Walls (Primascope Press 07/26/06) by Azure Flame
From timid, abused runaway to fearless junkie; to business owner, pop musician and author, Azure Flame rationalizes, "Once you've seen an elephant fly, what difference does it make to later see a buffalo fly? It may be more extravagant, but still common place. Expected. A guideline has been set for normalcy."
In Drama Queen of the Mirrored Walls, Azure Flame chronicles her young adulthood at the hands of an abusive, alcoholic husband, Jamie, scheming in-laws, dissociative family members, shady cops and drug-addicted friends. A rebellious teen with the world and her future at her fingertips, Azure Flame instead chose to learn life's hardest lessons by experience. But her hunger for thrills and excitement sent her head-long into a world of danger, desperation and devastation.
Azure describes in captivating detail her sensational journey, from maddening deception (being tricked by her in-laws into signing an appearance waiver which kept her from being informed of a court proceeding that gave the custody of her child away to her in-laws; being disowned and hated by her family based solely on lies told by her grandparents, even though their pathological tendencies had already jaded and dispersed the family for years), to horrendously shocking (being raped by a police officer who had rescued her from a crack house from which she was about to be sold).
Though Azure has earned some right to complain, she readily recognizes her hardships as direct consequences of her own impulsive decisions. Guided by only two goals -- to regain custody of her children and to become a rock star -- Azure's underlying positivity never fades completely. She always sees the light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how dim it becomes. Though her childhood faith and trust are clearly obliterated, her ambition, dedication, perseverance and positivity resonate from cover to cover. In fact, she even refers to the continuous stream of obstacles which she has overcome as "symbolic medals of Honor".
