Yeah, he was in the chorus. He didn't have a solo, but you can see him in the video and he's listed in the artist credits. That's what I love about Wikipedia... ya learn something new every day! MikeyChalupa 22:28, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Curious about Alex Martelli edit history

Just hoping you can explain the technical background here. On the Alex Martelli article, some text was placed there that was a copyvio issue. I worked out that issue, and made a number of edits to create the new version of the article. But the edit history now shows none of my contributions, though the current version appears to be the same as my last edit. I can see that your edit comment says something about "delete and restore from temp"... it's not that my individual edits are all that important, but I'm just wondering exactly what the story is behind this. Thanks!

Thank you very much for your comments on my recent Request for Adminship. The request was ultimately unsuccessful - which wasn't entirely surprising - and so I'll be taking special care to address your concerns regarding my use of CSD tags before running again.

If you have any feedback for me, please don't hesitate to leave it at my talk page. Thanks!

Santa Bárbara de Casa

Hi, I noticed that on Aug. 29 you deleted Santa Bárbara de Casa because of a {{copyvio}} tag pointing to [1]. The author of that article, User:Juaniychema, is presumably Juan y Chema, author(s) of that very Geocities site. Since the contents of that site do not qualify as commercial content and were likely added to Wikipedia by the copyright holder, I would like to ask you to reconsider the deletion - at least until such time as Juan y Chema is contacted for verification. (The article's contents were mirrored at Santa Bárbara de Casa, Huelva, which was later made into a redirect to Santa Bárbara de Casa, I reverted that article to the Geocities text for the time being). Thank you for your time ˉˉanetode╦╩ 13:41, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Image:Gravelyhill..jpg

I'm concerned by the copyright tag for this image. Your edit to this stated "google says maps are free for use on any site that is free access". Where is this stated please? I've just looked through Google Earth, plus its help pages, and can't find anything relating to copyright. Also, see Talk:Google Earth#Images uploaded from google earth. In any event, the image is still copyright, whether WP can use it or not, and should not be tagged as public domain. -- Tivedshambo (talk) 20:54, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

I think the best idea would be to apply {{Software-screenshot}} and then make a fairuse argument for the location instead of the location in a similar fashion that is done on other pages (i.e. Lindsay Lohan). Yanksox 22:10, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't think this applies here, as the image is not used for discussing the software, and is therefore not fair use. -- Tivedshambo (talk) 22:17, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
I address this in my last sentence. Read what Radio Kirk wrote for this image's fairuse argument in Lindsay Lohan, keep in mind it's a FA, so there shouldn't be a problem. Yanksox 22:19, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, but I don't see the connection. Image:Twins4.jpg is being correctly used to discuss a film by the actress portrayed. The image could not be used, for example, in Identical twins. In the same way, Image:Gravelyhill..jpg could be used to discuss Google earth, but it should not be used for Gravelly Hill Interchange, which it is at present. -- Tivedshambo (talk) 05:30, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Sorry for the late response, I was out of town. I should have explained more thoroughly, but the image appeared to have been captured from the Google Maps satellite function, rather than Google Earth, and I think the editor incorrectly identified it. Here google says that the maps may be used on sites that are free to access. That was the basis of my removal of the tag. It's a moot point since someone deleted it anyway. --Aguerriero (talk) 14:07, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Cleaning the WP:CP archive

Greetings. You and I have both been active recently in fighting the backlog at WP:CP. Currently, the only ones left undone are ones that I commented on. I don't think it would be proper for me to deal with these, as it might smack of bias, so. . . could you finish these last ones? If so, we could finally remove the {{adminbacklog}} tag! All the best, – Quadell (talk) (bounties) 15:54, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

P.S. As I was working on the archive, I removed the entry for Suicide in the Trenches[2], reasoning that it was created before 1923, and was public domain in the U.S. regardless of British laws. I have seen this decision made many times before, and didn't think it noteworthy. However, a user strongly disapproved of my action (see User:Quadell#I said I wouldn't argue this but . . .), arguing that I should have discussed it first, or that I should have come to a different conclusion. I'd like to make sure I'm doing the right thing when I work on WP:CP. Could you tell me if you think I was correct or not? – Quadell (talk) (bounties) 16:59, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Greetings

Hi there.I don't really know what to say. It's hard for me and I assume it must be complicated for all the people in my situation to try a new language out. You see, I've been studying English language since 1995 but, for some reason, I still keep my doubts on the subject. I joined Wikipedia on July 26, 2006 —the Spanish version — and as for a sudden I became deeply acquainted with the English one. I cannot trust myself to do it better, but I would like to; believe me when I say that is my priority. Up to now I've written an average of 30 articles in the Spanish Wikipedia, most of which are based on English and American literature authors and movements. My best ones for so far are es:Frederick Douglass and es:William Shakespeare. On the same way I wrote one article for this wikipedia, originally a translation from Spanish into English. I also added further information to a geography stub. My intention is to help and take part of this wonderful experience, but to do that I may need a hand. Can we work together? Do you want to keep in touch with me? I'm on the web almost all the time. If I'm not here I'm there, always fooling around. Thanks for reading my terrible message. God save me, lol. --Gustavo86 20:23, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

This is so pathetic. Historian2 considers an anonymous internet forum with 6 members to be a notable and reliable source. Moreover, while none of the 6 forum members are Yemenites, he bases the supposed view of the entire Yemenite Jewish community on the discussions between the 6 members of this forum. Writing a whole section about what the 6 members of an anonymous internet forum think is ridiculous and it fails the notability requirement. The fact that Historian2 accuses anyone disagreeing with him of 'vandalism', 'threats' and 'personal attacks' is quite disgusting. It is him who first threw the term 'vandalism' at me, not the other way around. --Daniel575 | (talk) 20:03, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

..or you just had a few minutes to step in for a few quick edits? The GP is a bit dormant in your absence. 75pickup added a caption line to the infobox(looks OK...opens up image options) A few others are plugging away at articles here and there. I've taken on adding classifications to our tagged articles. Moving alphetically I've plugged away at A.B.C.D plus a few random letters here and there.(X was easy!) Jimi Hendrix box

Hi Aguerriero!

I was wondering about the Jimi infobox, since the Music infobox covers guitars as well, why is it bad to be replaced? It has the exact same information really now and on the other one. I don't know why Guitartist need their own infobox when musical artist covers it just as well. Correct me if I'm out of line. :) Andrzejbanas 19:05, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Re {{Infobox Guitarist}}

Hi Aguerriero,

...I noticed you edited and renamed our Guitarist infobox. Out of curiosity, is this project-wide, or are you just doing it randomly?

Somewhere in between; elsewhere in Wikipedia Template:Infobox X seems to be the norm for infoboxes. As infoboxes look to've become part of the furniture, I'd support the introduction of an "Infobox:..." namespace (rather than keep repeating the redundancy of "Template:Infobox...") – what do you think...?  Regards, David Kernow (talk) 22:59, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

An uphill battle

I got rv'd adding the project box to the John Frusciante article(my own fault..I chopped off my own edit summary). I re-added it and opened up a discussion about pending sound samples on the talk page. That particular article is very good. I was wondering if you could be side tracked from the EVH cleanup to take a look at it and see what more can be done there. Right now it's a 'B'. It has an extensive reference section(should be given a go-over to see that all links work) and a decent Wiki-structure. I don't hink it would take much to get this one up to GA status. If you have time could you take a peek at it. Thanks. Anger22 10:29, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

For soundbytes I've been making my own. I found a nice little piece of freeware that allows the user to chop sections from soundfiles and then add fade-ins/outs to the snippet for a nice clean overall file. I cut an ogg of Mark Knopfler's solo from Sultans of Swing(specifically "THE lick" near the end of the solo) and it sounds very nice and comes in at 29 seconds. I think 30 seconds is the max allowed without getting into copyvio?? I have over 4500 albums in my collection so for me...the soundbytes are just a few clicks away. As for online sources I have no idea. Getting that Frusciante article up to GA status shouldn't take too much effort. I've invited HJensen(the user who rv'd the guitarist infobox) to join the guitarists project. He is especially keen on the Frusciante article and also the Frank Zappa article(a former FA candidate that could get another push soon with a combined effort from some of the regular editors) Maybe if you were to chat to HJensen yourself you could persuade him to join up with the project. He is a very good editor and his participation in those 2 particular articles would be very helpful(from the guitarists perpective...per se) Anger22 12:50, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Audio file editor "EXPstudio Audio Editor Free 4". Here's the link from download.com [4] It's pretty simple to use but it only exports to wav files. I use an old version of dbpoweramp(the new versions have a time limit) and it has an ogg plugin to convert the wav file to that format. There are many freeware audio converters besides dbpoweramp...but I've been using that one for a long time so I haven't had the need to try anything else. Anger22 14:01, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
FYI, [5]...frustrating. Anger22 08:39, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

I have been pondering the whole debate(if one could call it that...I didn't really feel there was an argument coming from our end) and really, in the end, it's the overall article quality that counts. I do prefer the "G" box over the "M" box. Besides not having the useless colours, I thought the guitarist box was a bit of a reward for certain players that deserved some sort of special "wiki-recognition" for their guitar skills. Is it possible for us to just adopt the musician box as our standard? Do we adopt an altered version of it to turf the unreq'd colours...AND...incorporate the soundbyte idea?....which I still think is a nice addition(albeit a bit of work on the user end) What do you think? Anger22 14:44, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Hope the umpteenth offer to dialogue works. Heaven's Wrath is a very active editor and maybe he just lacks proper tact when it comes to "boardroom discussions"? He's only 17. His user page says he assumes good faith...I guess we will just have to AGF that he will learn what "AGF" really means. And if can come to an agreement on an altered version of the "M" box to include a few more "guitar" bits...then more positive work will get done. Cheers! Anger22 15:12, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

I guess, from the latest entry over at the M template talkpage, I should change my name to Snippy22 :) I went back through my comments on all the recent talk pages regarding the subject and couldn't find where I had been snippy???...but..oh well...at least someone representing that project is talking which is a great thing. Something positive will, hopefully, come from all of it. But, since I have unknowingly raised some neck hairs, maybe I'd best keep my mouth shut until all the treaties have been signed. BTW, slow down on those class tags...I can't keep up. Cheers and take care! Anger22 19:28, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

I strongly disagree. I will NOT assume good faith under any circumstances following the users racist outbursts such as "swarthy Armenians", "typical Armenian" next to an uploaded picture of a poor deformed individual from 100 years ago, or comments such as "Armenians are responsible for an outbreak of savage murders and 80% of all crime in Glendale". His academic source for the photos of those deformed people,is Felix von Luschan, one of the people responsible for the rise of Nazi ideology in Germany:

"In a 1909 speech to the Society for German Scientists and Physicians, the anthropologist and eugenicist Felix von Luschan made the dichotomy between the valuable and the inconsequential clear in his response to the question, "Who is inferior?" "The sick, the weak, the dumb, the stupid, the alcoholic, the bum, the criminal; all these are inferior,'" von Luschan maintained, "compared with the healthy, the strong, the intelligent, the clever, the sober, the pure'" (p. 95). Generally, two overlapping categories were expendable: the disabled (especially the mentally ill) and those who were economically unproductive. Non-European "races," too, were consigned to moral oblivion as a result of the contribution of evolutionary theory to racial science."[6]--Eupator 17:00, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Musician/Guitarist infobox situation

I would like to offer an apology about the infobox situation. I want you to know that I never blew you off when you offered to collaborate. I have been so wrapped up in reorganized the highly disorganized Musicians WikiProject.

I was under the impression that Xtifr's addition of the "Notable Instruments" field to the {{Infobox musical artist}} template was an attempt to eventually merge the two infoboxes. Because all the fields are included in the musical artist infobox, I assumed that it would be better for a page to have the more-detailed infobox, especially when it was a person with more notariaty. Thus I said that the muscial artist infobox should be used "as an alternative to {{Guitarist infobox}} where appropriate."1 Also, I would prefer to have one infobox for all musical artists that would eventually encompass guitarists as well.

Again, I am sorry for deciding that {{Infobox musical artist}} should replace {{Guitarist infobox}}. I was unaware of the debate and would gladly discuss this topic with the Guitarist WikiProject. My main goal right now though is to heal any tensions between us. – Heaven's Wrath   Talk  01:59, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

nothing personal Tekleni, it just didn't do anything to advance the RfC--Caligvla 16:36, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

nothing personal Caligvla, neither did yours. That's why if you readd it, I'll personally revert, and report you for violating the 3RR.--Tekleni 16:39, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Also, how long is this RFC going to be going on for? I mean we know that Caligvla's proposed modifications will not (under any circumstances) make consensus.--Tekleni 16:40, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

It is not up to me to determine how long the RFC is posted. RFCs can stay posted until everyone agrees that the matter is resolved. My personal view is that the RFC has not changed the situation one bit - no one has spoken in support of Caligvla's position other than one anonymous editor. I would recommend to Caligvla that he archive (note: not DELETE, but ARCHIVE) the RFC and decide whether he wants to accept community consensus or pursue further dispute resolution.--Aguerriero (talk) 16:45, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Aguerriero, no intention to delete the RFC. When should it be archived though? It's obvious that no reasonable editor will agree to change an NPOV article to a minority POV.--Eupator 17:06, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

"“Culturally, historically and politically Armenia is considered part of Europe…” Eupator your words above that are supported by your 3 friends is a minority POV--Caligvla 17:14, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Really, well this "minority POV" is supported by the BBC, who lists Armenia in Europe, not in Asia [9].--Tekleni 17:17, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Since Caligvla opened it, ideally it should be archived when Caligvla either decides to accept consensus or pursue other courses. It will be archived to preserve a record of the comments made. Also, all of you please limit your comments here to messages for me - debate on the issue should go to the article Talk page. --Aguerriero (talk) 17:20, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
What if he doesn't do either? Why should the article remained locked for such a long period of time because of one single person?--Eupator 17:42, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Any edit I make to Armenia will contain edit summaries. Thanks for your attention to this matter. Much appreciated.--Eupator 18:05, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

{{deleted}}

Substing was decided against on the relevant talkpages because because either the mirrors pick it up (I think) or b/c it makes it impossible to fish them out later for deletion (these things are supposed to be temporary). Mediawiki feature - meh... to small of an issue. Adding a long comment tag is the cheapest and most harmless solution per consensus. - CrazyRussian talk/email 15:22, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Whatever, dude, just get it over 100 bytes. Cheers. - CrazyRussian talk/email 15:29, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Clapton

Try mixing the "Further reading" and citations/notes/references together. The Further reading citations should be included in the article, otherwise editors will think that someone has just listed a lot of books without bothering to relate them to the article. --andreasegde 16:58, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Name Calling

Can you please warn Tekleni and other to stop calling me a Turk, I have clearly stated that I and most other Europeans have no support for Turkey. Turkey is a hot button issue for Armenians and their attacks are creating a false association.--Caligvla 17:12, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

If I were Turkish, I'd be mortally offended with your comment; as if there were something wrong with being Turkish.--Tekleni 17:15, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
You and you friends Statements seem to suggest that--Caligvla 19:36, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Can you semi-protect Armenia. You know, with all the socks floating around.--Tekleni 17:41, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

What do you think of the developments. People are responding to the RFC, and Caligvla is simply trolling their opinions (accusing them of logical fallacies etc simply because they don't agree with him - aren't people entitled to their opinions).--Tekleni 18:08, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

BTW thanks for babysitting us ;-) --Tekleni 18:08, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

OK - also, sorry: last time I edited Talk:Armenia I did not leave an edit summary (even though I had read your message). Obviously with my edit summary usage, I have no chance of being an admin. (they need 100% or something like that).--Tekleni 18:29, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

The claims of sockpuppets on my part are completely unfounded, isn't there a way to check the IP addresses and discredit this vicious attack on me?--Caligvla 19:36, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

If that is possible do investigate the latest "new user": Wordlytrin (talk contribs) ;-) --Tekleni 19:38, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Caligvla, the sockpuppets are completely obvious. The IP address that you are claiming isn't you has made the exact same edits that you make when you're logged in. Then, Wordlytrin (talk contribs) is created and comes directly to Talk:Armenia supporting your position. There are select administrators that have the ability to confirm sockpuppets using the checkuser function; however, I will not waste their time requesting investigation of obvious sockpuppets, and I will not waste my own time with it because they will just tell me they are obvious. --Aguerriero (talk) 19:43, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

      • I really think you should dig deeper, I have a hunch that some of the more "agressive users" have setup straw men in an attempt to ban me from the site. I also think some must be legitimate. Aguerriero, ever since you started helping me, I have done everything I could to obey all the rules and go about the dispute according to your recomendations. If I lose the debate, I lose it. I am not going to cry over it. I am not going to game the system as many of the others have.--Caligvla 03:03, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

More anons

These anons keep popping in the talk page throwing all kinds off insults. This is becoming really annoying and very disruptive. I'm sorry for bothering you with this again but there must be something that can be done.--Eupator 01:54, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Look he started it again. He is trolling the Europe template. Using anon sockpuppets on Armenia and Armenians. Same old stuff. I mean come on...--Eupator 02:01, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Ah, a "kapoteh". You friend is probably a Lubavitcher chassid. Next time you see him, ask him if he has for you any information or literature about "Sheva Mitzvos Bnei Noach". He'll hook you up! :) - CrazyRussian talk/email 15:16, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

So no kidnapping, no murder, no stealing, no eating vitamins made out of horns of elk, harvested live (dead serious!), no anal sex with man or goat, no worshiping statues including Jesus, no cursing the Lord, and no false witnessing, and you go to heaven w/o passing go or collecting $200. It's much easier for yous than for us. - CrazyRussian talk/email 15:46, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Conversion is absolutely discouraged for scriptural reasons (See e.g. Naomi turning Ruth away three times in the Book of Ruth) and for practical reasons: Judaism is HARD TO DO! Sheva Mitzvos Bnei Noach are infinitely easier. There's just no reason to convert. I know that if tomorrow my maternal grandma were to come forward and confess that she lied about her Judaism so she could marry my granddad (haha... lol) I would stay gentile much more likely than not. (Well, no, cause I love my wife and kids too much, and my wife would be forbidden from marrying a goy...) Well, anyway, you get my drift. - CrazyRussian talk/email 16:01, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Next Step

Okay this is completely ludicrous, no matter what I say or do they jump all over me for no legitimate reason. The issue has nothing to do with me personally, and that's all this has become a personal sabotage campaign. How can we get someone of authority to make a final judgment? Hopefully it can be someone that owns a reference book and can look up Armenia’s geographic location and put an end to this complete nonsense.--Caligvla 16:45, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Re:

Because Armenia has nothing to do with Asia culturally, historically or politically. Certain countries in the middle of Europe are culturally and historically a lote more influenced by Asian culture than Armenia, take Albania for example. Any Oriental influence that is present in Armenia is also present in every single country of the Balkans or South-Eastern Europe. --Eupator 23:03, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

see Armenian_alphabet that is about as Asian as you can get.--Caligvla 00:22, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Another thing that refutes his claim, Armenians were one of the first Christian people, something they are very proud of, they were worshiping Christ long before Europe. The Christian faith moved West from the heart of the Middle East (Asia). To say Armenian has nothing to do with Asia historically or cultrually is just a lie. Asia is a very large area it just doesn't mean Sushi.--Caligvla 00:43, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

You're getting desperate now. The Greek alphabet is based on the Phoenician alphabet. Is it therefore Asian? Unless you have something smart to say please don't spam this man's talk page. Any country in Europe has just about as much to do with Asia as Armenia, some countries a hundred times more than Armenia. FYI, the Armenian alphabet is based on the Greek alphabet and Christianity is a syncretic religion, a mix of Indo-European paganism (concept of trinity etc.) and Midle Eastern monotheism. See you learned something new, but I wont school you next time.--Eupator 01:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Not at all, Armenian is located in Asia, the family of European nations are not. This is no place for your personal original research --Caligvla 02:47, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Stepping in through the side door

Sorry to be a pest....I could report it to ANI(where it would sit for a day) A "they did/he did/we said/no-one said" edit war has broken out on the Wishbone Ash article between a slew of anon IP's (and 1 new 'for this purpose only' user). I was going to rv it back to yesterday and tell them to take it to the talk page...but...we all know that won't go anywhere. If you have 2 spare seconds could you use your powers of 'calm-speak' and make it disappear from from VP watchlist? On a side note I thought I found a new eager project member but I caught them right when they were about to take an extended Wiki-break. Oh well...maybe next time. Cheers! Wishbone Ash Article

Dear Aguerriero

Thank you for locking the Wishbone Ash article as it appears that things were getting out of hand.

I was the person who originally added the paragraph about Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash (my IP address is 84.13.155.138 and my original addition was at 15.25 on 18th Oct, with a couple of minor edits afterwards). I didn't register because I didn't see any point - I don't intend to be a regular contributor to Wikipedia.

My reason for adding the paragraph was to provide information that Martin Turner was also back on the live stage with a version of Wishbone Ash - this I felt was necessary for completion. My paragraph was short, to the point, and uncontroversial. I made the mistake of letting people on a Wishbone Ash forum know, and it would appear that soon afterwards someone with a strong bias towards Andy Powell (IP 172.191.198.19) stepped in with edits that were derogatory to Martin Turner and sometimes inaccurate too. I tried to restore a bit of balance, even leaving in one statement that I would have preferred not to, but the person came back and added more.

Now that the article is locked, I hope that will be the end of all the tit-for-tat editing. However, I am concerned that the paragraph still contains derogatory comments, and is tantamount to both sides washing their dirty linen in public. If you are willing to restore the paragraph to what I originally added on 18th Oct (the tidied up version) I would be most grateful.

As I'm not registered, please could you reply to my e mail address

alanbloor@hotmail.com

Thank you

Alan Bloor

Re:

I hear you. I have yet to see such a contribution though. I'm not checking his every move anymore since there are several other users who are also keeping track. One more thing, the talk page will need archiving very soon. It's 64K now and most of it is nonsense.--Eupator 15:41, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Trust me he delets everything, for example I did a very nice thing and alphabetized the contributors list on wikiproject Armenia, he deleted my work just because I did it, if anyone else did it, he would have given them a barnstar. As you can clearly see attacks on me are a 100% personal nothing to do with the issues. --Caligvla 16:20, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

POV Statement

I tried to add the POV STATEMENT tag at the end of the line of disputed text. If readers don't know it's disputed they wont know to go to the talk page and contribute to the RfC. Both Eupator and Clevelandar team up to avoid the 3RR. The tag is small and not disruptive, can you please put it back.

[neutrality disputed]

--Caligvla 16:25, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

I think you should just accept that your proposal has not made consensus.--Tekleni 16:33, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Considering the fact that 99.9% of all published reference books agree with me, and any supporting view was either burried or deleted. Hardly seems fair does it? Armenia is a 100% in Asia, it doesn't even border Europe (close to the border) If it's in Asia it's an Asian culture. It is just an Asian culture with European influence, as oppose to a European culture that formed in Europe. see map.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Cultures%2C_1200_BC.PNG - if your culture did not start here it is not European. To say Armenia has a European culture is original research to say the Armenian culture has been influenced by Europe would not be original research, can you see the difference in the two statements?

sorry Aguerriero, don't mean to cluter your talk page, he just follows me EVERYWHERE I go...

--Caligvla 16:44, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

The arguments you come up with are just silly. You want me to bury this one as well like I buried everything else you came up with? Fine. According to most Western scholars(Diakonof, Russel etc.) and Classical sources (Herodotus) Armenians and their culture did form within the map you provided. Northern Greece (Thessaly) and the Balkans(Macedonia), Armenians later migrated to what is now known as the Armenian highlands during the Trojan War in 1200 BC. Satisifed?--Eupator 16:53, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Nonsense! Junk research!--Caligvla 17:06, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Are you calling Herodotus (the father of history) a liar? :)

According to Greek mythic tradition, Armenia was named after Armenus, one of Jason's Argonauts. Herodotus, writing in the fifth century B.C., states that the Armenians lived in Thrace and then moved into Phrygia, from which they crossed into the later Armenian territory. Coupled with genetic evidence: [10]--Eupator 17:14, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

What ancient historians say irrelevant in this case. The fact of the matter is that there are TWO POVs (yes, the Canadian government does count, and they are not "some website" as Caligvla calls them) and they should both be represented in the article per the WP:NPOV policy. That's why the Asia template is in the article. I don't think anyone would dream of removing that. Anyway, as Caligvla's proposal has failed to make a consensus, this is the end of the matter.--Tekleni 17:19, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

If the tide does not turn on the RfC by the end of next week (10/27/06) I will close it and seek mediation. Provided the POV Statement tag is not removed. If you feel so strongly that the current "consensus" is correct, then you have nothing to fear from the POV tag.--Caligvla 17:23, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Blackmail is uncceptable.--Eupator 17:28, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Arguably, proof of the consensus is that the people supporting the consensus can get away with removing the tag without violating the 3RR without sockpuppets. Weird, isn't it?--Tekleni 17:27, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Talk: Armenia, deleted comments

Hi - I saw over on Caviglua's talk page that there was a problem regarding the replacement of the comments deleted by Eucaptor on the Talk:Armenia page. That was done by me, as my understanding is (correct me if I am wrong) that comments aren't supposed to be deleted from talk pages, regardless of who poses them. I base this understanding on my understanding of Talk pages' purpose as permenant records of the discussion of the page (and I base that, in part, on the practice of archiving pages when they get too big, rather than just deleting them). If I've been disruptive, please accept my apologies: my intent was benign, if naive. --Badger151 19:22, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Martywillsonpiper.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. And what uncharted course have you set your "Wiki-sails" for now? To boldly wiki-project where no wiki-project has been before. Anger22 13:17, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

That would actually be a fairly busy project. Is there a lot of interest/possible participants? No conflicts with any other parent/offspring projects? Anger22 14:31, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Surely bad luck won't strike twice and a 2nd project springs up and attacks yours(goofy colours et al). Flying into YYZ and then heading to..???..for grad school? YYZ has the most ignorant security staff I've have ever met.(my POV anyways) We have offices in Ottawa, Detroit, Savoy, Calgary, Kelowna, Vancouver, Abbotsford and Victoria. So for me, YYZ is a home away from home since I have to go through it in order to get to any of our office locations(except Ottawa). I like Toronto...it's clean and easy to navigate. Is that where you'll end up? Anger22 15:29, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Do me a quick favour if you will. Some days I understand why MightyMoose22 quit this place altogether. Sigh! Anger22 17:09, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for looking through the mud and seeing it clearly. And I guess I'm a she?? That particular user is also puppet master for a drawers worth of socks(see also earlier cry for help on my talk page) who tag without any pre-plan to actually edit in what can only be called an extreme case of WP:POINT. Nothing positive will ever come from that. It's wiki-snobbery at it's highest. If the user would actually step back and cite the articles she tags(I will AGF that maybe she will this time) the project would benefit from it as it would turn several notable Blues guitarist articles from starts to B's or even GA's. One could only hope. Cheers! Anger22 17:51, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Hexblade speedy

You deleted Hexblade (Dungeons & Dragons): "(content was: '{{Template:db-move|Hexblade}}::(as per how all D&D class articles are titled with "(Dungeons & Dragons)". Move needed for consistency between D&D class articl...')" Not easy to tell based on Yaksha's request, but that countered an earlier decision: Talk:Hexblade#Requested move. I've added move requests for the various D&D classes Yaksha has just moved (and tagged, which happens to make them un-revertable by non-admins). I'm not sure how to prevent (or at least inhibit) a repitition though. -- JHunterJ 15:54, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Well, the move was against the earlier discussion, but I assume Yaksha didn't see the earlier discussion. I did leave him/her a note about after the new moves, though. -- JHunterJ 16:59, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
I was wrong: User Talk:Yaksha#D&D class articles. Any advice for next steps? Are another set of move proposals (and discussions) needed to undo? -- JHunterJ 14:02, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
There was a parallel discussion, with the same conclusion, at Talk:Warmage, but nothing more general. Would at least the previously discussed and failed move at Hexblade be (speedily) revertable then? -- JHunterJ 15:33, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your clean-up work here. I'll try and get the rest of the steps going there shortly. -- JHunterJ 17:04, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

PS I am watching the other situation as well. Another editor(more familiar with the pointer) is in battle over several articles now. Anger22 19:22, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Mattisse

Do be aware that this is not the first time Mattisse has gone on a tagging spree. The first time she tagged every article listed in Starwood Festival. She then created multiple sockpuppets to continue tagging the same set of articles. Several of us suspect that Timmy12 is a sockpuppet being used by Mattisse to do such tagging now. Ekajati (yakity-yak) 19:23, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

No, that whole list of restrictions, etc. on checkuser is completely intimidating. I would prefer if this came to the attention of an admin who could file the checkuser. I noticed that Hanuman Das tried to open a sockpuppetry case on it Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Mattisse (3rd) but got shot down, even though there are two similar earlier complaints that got confirmed: Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Mattisse & Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Mattisse (2nd). Ekajati (yakity-yak) 19:44, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
There was a Sockpuppet check which was closed as not similar enough to demonstrate a sockpuppet relationship. --Salix alba (talk) 20:17, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes, AFAIK, a checkuser has never been done. After reading all the restrictions on the use of checkuser, I prefer for an admin to file the request. The users in question seem to think that my pointing out the similarity of pattern between the two users modus operandi plus the overlap in the articles targeted is harrassment. Can an admin please follow up on doing a checkuser and/or looking into this further? Ekajati (yakity-yak) 21:51, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
If you think so. I am surprised that someone who has a history involving 18 sockpuppets over three different incidents has not been indefinitely blocked. How many times do you have to be warned and have sockpuppets blocked before it becomes "serious"? The second incident involved stacking of AfDs, apparently. Why is this user still free to continue this activity? Ekajati (yakity-yak) 21:57, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Here's the stacked AfD: [12]. No less than 5 of Mattisse's confirmed socks voted or commented on it: Mattisse, GBYork, NLOleson, Gjeatman. and AgastNeey - although I guess they didn't stack the vote as it looks like they cancel each other out...but there were other single-purpose accounts likely to have been the same user. The article had to be undeleted, the AfD reopened, and the article ended up being kept w/o Mattisse's interference. Ekajati (yakity-yak) 22:15, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Please do not remove tag on Robert Johnson without fixing the problem.

Please do not remove it. That article has existed since at least April 2004 without proper sourcing. The tag will not harm the article in any way and will most likely result in Benefit as people see the tag and put effort into fixing it. Removing tags without fixing the problem constitutes vandalism, according to Wikipedia. [13] Thanks! Mattisse(talk) 21:56, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Why am I here again? Wait up MightyMoose!

I don't make a point of reporting anyone to AiV unless it's really worth it. And then when I do this sort of thing happens. AiV and ANI are 2 of the most frustrating places I have seen on Wikipedia. Part of the toolbox is "the banhammer". This was a case where it should have been pulled out of the box. Sigh? Anyways, check out this page...link(my internal peacock proudly unveils its feathers). It was a productive day as far as that goes anyways. Rant complete. Cheers! Anger22 03:37, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I noticed the new redirect and watchlisted it(as I've done with every single project page) Today I am doing safety audits for a large American city( I won't name for obvious reasons) Safety audits force me into afternoon nap mode quicker than just about anything I do so I am not tagging any equipment articles today. Guitar project/infobox/picture question/concern

If you have time, check out the "image" conversation at the bottom of the Brian May article's talk page. A user is complaining that the Guitarist Infobox image shows him performing and, in his mind, the infobox pic should be a neutral "passport like" photo(YUCK!). In my own POV, a guitarist infobox pic should show the subject with a guitar....if possible anyways. I personally think the user is just trying to get his own pics from his own website into a Wikipedia article, but I could be wrong. We don't have a guideline for infobox pics other than suggested size and the obvious FU requirement. This might be an issue on other guitarist pages, or musicians in general for that matter. If I am reading the article about Oscar Peterson....the infobox pic better damn well show him sitting at a piano!...know what I mean? Would it pretentious to add an infobox guideline for pics that says "holding a guitar woould be the best choice"? With so many articles lacking images in some cases any FU pic would do. But here in the Brian May case...it's a clear cut fair use image and he's playing the "Red Special" to boot. It'd be a shame to lose that one. Your thoughts? Cheers! Timmy12/Mattisse

Could you add the observation that Timmy12 complained that his tags were being reverted by you and Notinasnaid when in actuallity you reverted Mattisse's comments to this request for checkuser. That is extremely strong evidence that Timmy12 is a sockpuppet. Ekajati (yakity-yak) 18:21, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia Soap Operas

I've been watching ANI and RCU with great interest today. You can almost hear some editors keyboards clicking from a thousand miles away :). Something stuck in my memory regarding certain editors and their certain habits. I went back through the edit history of a very notable guitarist(and prime target article) and found these 2 little gems.[14]. They followed right on the heals of 1 of the Muppet Show editors and, as you will notice by the modus operandi/edit summaries, look very familiar. Does knowing, or possibly knowing, the IP of a suspect individual(s) help the admin fold do their investigative tasks? Just wondering. Cheers! Anger22 19:04, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Michele Bachmann

  • I didn't contribute to the Michele Bachmann material; however, I think you're way off base Aguerriero with criticisms of 69.249.195.232. You clearly don't understand defamation (I'm an attorney -- I do). To me, your behavior seems abusive of administrative privileges; you're claiming to remove something for reasons of defamation when, in fact, it's a POV edit. You're not editing, Aguerriero, you're censoring, and you're using defamation as an irrelevant excuse. The contributor sourced the material from two mainstream sites. You also marked his/her contributions as "vandalism," which it was not. I think this needs to be reviewed by a neutral third party as you clearly seem to have some vested interest in this subject and are making POV removals. You seem to be subjecting material to some sort of personal litmus test to which you expect others to adhere. Very anti-Wiki behavior, IMHO. FWIW, I had no idea who Michele Bachmann was until I happened on this page as 69.249.195.232 had contributed something of interest on another page. I've also posted this on the Michele Bachmann discussion page, which would probably be the best place for you to reply, as I don't have a user page.207.69.139.11 05:19, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

So here's a quick question(or 2)

How does it feel having your name dragged through the mud puddles? You held yourself in great composure and your reputation as the great mediator remains intact. Here's an admin type question....Timmy12 was cleared(?) as a sockpuppet but one of the names on the list was confirmed as a definite SP to Matisse. What is the admin postion now in dealing with that situation where she was unblocked on the promise not to do it again...but has anyways? There are at least 4 admins with comments on the whole situation. Can any of them administer due process or will it go back to the original admin who dealt with it the first time? Speaking of admin duties, I noticed your cleanup over at AiV. Your getting your name out there amongst the scoundrels. I expect I will be rv'ing your user page some day after one of your "blockees" comes after you for some comeuppance :) . Cheers and take care! Anger22 13:08, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Belated reply (re:Wikiproject Guitar)

Hi Aguerriero, thanks for the invitation to join WP:Guitar. I actually thought about joining the project, but I frankly don't know how active a member I would be...unfortunately, I don't have as much time as I used to have for editing Wikipedia, and what little time I spend on here is mainly consumed by vandalism patrols. I'll keep the project in mind, I'll definitely join when I feel I have enough time to actually contribute something to the project :P -- Ferkelparade π 17:36, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Well, well, well

So I see your user page was vandalsed by an anon IP who was so afarid of you they reverted back their own graffiti. Didn't I say that was going to happen sooner or later :) . A few new members to the guitar project over the weekend. I went through the list and spotted at least 5 names that can go into the "inactive" roster. If you have time maybe you can browse through and spot "the 5". Cheers and take care! Anger22 11:16, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

I was thinking 2 mos....maybe that's too short? Also there are a few "made and ID, joined the project, made 1 edit, and then flew the coop" type accounts in there that will probably never return. But I will AGF if we have a cut-off date to work with. I will move a couple of the dated ones. Maybe if/when another newsletter is issued and no one jumps back into project maintenance, for a few edits anyways, it will be easier to see who still onboard. Cheers!
The notice is nice just incase they forgot. I am taking a powder from "screens" for awhile. If I am passing through later I will gander back at it. Anger22 20:53, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Bot for newsletter

Hi - it should be really easy for me to get a bot working for you - after all, I've done all the groundwork for Imoeng's newsletter. Would you like the letter to be delivered to members of a category (I'll set up an opt-out list for those who don't want it)? Effectively, your wish is my command! If practical, can I ask you to put the latest newsletter at User:MartinBotII/WPGuitaristsMsg - take a look at Imoeng's one for an idea :). You can put a noinclude in it - I deliver it by substing the page onto user talks. Thanks, Martinp23 20:47, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Ahh - that's exactly the same problem Imoeng had. The way he cured it was to make a page listing targets - if you wanted to do the same (same sort of formatting etc), the bot would happily run off such a list. There would be another way, but that involves putting templates on every user page - probably something that some would object to :( -- Martinp23 21:09, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

The Wedge

Hi Aguerriero, Um- concerning the 'critism' part of the article. The reason I believe it shouldn't be there and that it should be put in the 'trivia' section is because it is being fairly bias against the show, with the particular criticsm. Agreed? Thanx shaggy9872004

Aguerriero, Just to clear up something: Saying that the criticism is "sourced from blogs" is wrong. The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age websites are not "blogs" any more than the New York Times website is; they simply reproduce print material in digital form, and, moreover, The Age and The Herald are the two most widley read papers in Australia. The article linked to on the web forum was originally printed in The Good Weekend, also one of the most widley read publications in the country, and the link is simply for convenience. The only one of the four that could in any way be considered a "blog" is The Blurb, and even that is a professional webzine rather than a "blog".

I also fail to see how this is "biased" - surely if The Simpsons, Family Guy, Uwe Boll, Limp Bizkit etc. articles contain sections that document negative public response, then this shouldn't be any different? If anything, ignoring the criticism from media commentators - which has been virtually unanimous - would be a greater form of bias.

Regards, Somebody without an account (58.166.6.17 13:04, 31 October 2006 (UTC))

Ah, I get it. Well the main point is that changes like this should be discussed on the article Talk page first. I'm sure everyone can agree on that. --Aguerriero (talk) 14:01, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

what would you call this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Augustgrahl#Turkic_people since Eupator is never blocked, I can only assume his behavior is fine.--Caligvla 19:19, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Try harder. That was not very civil but my comments were directed at an action. You still don't seem to get it. A personal attack is an attack against a user.--Eupator 19:26, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
I call it more content disputes. Again, commenting on edits is allowed, but making personal attacks is not. He didn't say "You're retarded", he called the edits retarded. It's borderline incivility, and he was rightfully warned about it. Both of your methods of dealing with your conflict have been alternately nonconstructive (the incivility and edit wars) and ineffective (the RFC and other attempts at discussion). You antagonize each other and I've spent unknown hours looking at your edits. How about just stopping? Caligvla, how about you stop trolling Armenia-related articles once and for all. Eupator, how about you remove your "warning" from the Armenia portal since anyone who cares is already wikistalking Caligvla? Anyone? --Aguerriero (talk) 19:35, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

I already said I am not going to do any edits to the Armenians articles, that I am waiting for the Mediation. I wish they all would stop stalking me, they follow me everywhere I go, it gets old.--Caligvla 19:49, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

I have also made countless peace offerings to Eupator and Clevelander, and they just delete them... I am not the agressor--Caligvla 20:05, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Oh man you're not going to believe this one! He is now fabricating research papers and rewriting them: see Talk:Origin of the Armenians--Eupator 23:38, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

It can't be both, I didn't fabricate the paper, it's legitimate, but I made a funny edit at the end...--Caligvla 23:58, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

For guidance on how to respond to such "funny edits", see WP:NOFEEDING.--Tekleni 00:00, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Honestly, Caligvla, that's going to immensely hurt your mediation efforts when you provide print citations and ask people to accept them on good faith when they can't so easily look them up. --Aguerriero (talk) 04:29, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

re: 141.84.69.20

I have been watching this one too, after they went through a removed a whole bunch of needs-attention tags from guitarist articles with no explanation. Do you see any evidence of abuse or disruption? It actually seems to be doing needed tasks, but possibly an unauthorized bot. --Aguerriero (talk) 21:16, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

What concerned me was the changing of some {{notenglish}} tags to {{db-nonsense}} tags, marking the articles for deletion. I see that someone has since reverted one of these, so I will clean up the other few similar edits. Otherwise, I didn't see any blatant harm. --KeithB 21:21, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
