Ae of Balhae
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dae Inseon was king of Balhae, (906-926) a kingdom in northeast Asia occupying parts of Manchuria, northern Korea, and the Russian Far East. Dae Inseon was also the last king of Balhae. He and his armies were pushed back and eventually defeated by the Khitan.
Balhae was fully taken over by the Khitan, who established the Dongdan Kingdom, but Dae Jeong-Hyun, one of Dae Inseon's sons by another wife, was proclaimed King of Balhae and was able to gather all of the Balhae rebellions within the Dongdan Kingdom into one whole army. Dae Jeong-Hyun and the newly formed Balhae Army attacked the former capital of Balhae and reclaimed it. After the reclaiming of the Balhae capital, two nations were founded within Balhae's domains: Later Balhae and the Tongran kingdom. Both are said to have been Korean nations.
