This IP address, 62.6.139.10, is registered to British National Health Service and is shared by multiple users. Comments left on this page may be received by other users of this IP and appear to be irrelevant. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking. In the event of vandalism from this address, efforts will be made to contact British National Health Service to report abuse.

If you are an unregistered user operating from this address, note that this need not necessarily be the IP address of your machine. In many cases, it turns out to be the IP address of a proxy server that communicates between your browser and the Wikimedia servers. Such proxies are shared among a huge number of users compared to the number of persons using your particular machine. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. However, you will still be unable to edit Wikipedia while the IP you are using is blocked.

[edit] Attention Administrators etc

This address is a proxy for nhs-net, of of the address of the British National Health Service. Basically all British doctors etc who edit during work or on-call or simply from their hospital residences will edit from behind this or a number of similar IPs. Please do not block this "user" Refdoc 10:28, 13 December 2005 (UTC)

Frankly, I am of the opinion that it doesn't really matter. Users can create an account and avoid this problem. This IP address keeps turning up for vandalizing my user page, and while the comments are sometimes funny, it is annoying nonetheless. Looking over this page shows that my userpage is but one of many that are repeatedly vandalized by users from this IP address, and that many people from it like to contribute anonymously shouldn't license the vandalism of the numerous others that use this generic address as a shield for their actions. Not to mention the moral issues of these doctors etc using work time to edit an encyclopaedia, espec given that they're funded by the public. Do doctors have so much spare time? You'd probably be doing them a favour by blocking them. It might encourage them to do some work. Lupine Proletariat 11:19, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Got a source?

Hi. At Maori you have added To be legally defined as Māori one need have only 1/16 Māori blood. In Ngai Tahu (one example), a person needs only to be able to prove whakapapa to a kaumatua who was alive in 1848 and is listed in their Blue Book. Can you say where it is defined that Māori need 1/16 Māori blood to be legal (so to speak). Cheers. Moriori 20:46, July 14, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] offensive content

Please refrain from modifying the page on Jim Davidson (comedian) to contain offensive content. While you may not like this comedian, that does not excuse you putting offensive, derogatory and potentially libellous content in a public forum.

Libellous?? I haven't added anything libellous, you fool! As for being offensive, people are far too touchy and ready to take offence these days. Anyway, the content I added was purely factual - people who like Jim Davidson's humour are more likely to be poorly-educated and simple-minded than otherwise. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.6.139.10 (talkcontribs) .

[edit] Doctor Who book characters

Hi, just to explain: the category description specifically excludes television characters who have appeared in the books. This was done to cut down on the number of characters in that category, as it would mean that every companion that's appeared (and nearly all of them have) in the books would need to be added to the category, as well as every Doctor. This would have ultimately led to that category including nearly every character in all the other categories, and render it less useful as a categorization scheme. Thanks. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 13:02, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Paul Lavelle

Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia! I recently tagged this article for Speedy deletion, as it appears to be about yourself, rather than a encyclopedia article. Its content was "Hello, my name is Paul Lavelle. I am 22 and live in Leicester. Thanks for reading my page." I think what you want for this is a user page, which you can easily attain by signing up for an account. I hope you'll do so, so that you can continue to contribute to Wikipedia! [edit] A source for Norval Marley change?

Hiya. You recently added a "or Welsh" into the Norval Marley page, which I came across whilst disambiguating mentions of this word. Have you got a citation for this? "Supposedly" isn't terribly encyclopaedic, and one of the very first hits I found on Google for this man is a comprehensive page about this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/iconsofwales/sites/content/pages/bob_marley.shtml says quite clearly that this is a misunderstanding and points to http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/north_east/3431139.stm for backup. So I am going to move your addition to the talk page for now. But please don't let this put you off contributing to Wikipedia. Thanks! Telsa 00:04, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Advice: How to use dates on Wikipedia

Please don't change the dates. Most British people and many people internationally write dates as dd/mm/yy, eg, 12 December 1904. Most Americans use mm/dd/yy, eg, December 12 1904. If the article is about an American topic, use mm/dd/yy. If it is a British topic, use dd/mm/yy. If neither, leave it as originally written.

Many Americans or British people take offence if an article written about their country and which was written in their local version of English is changed around to a version they don't use. So please do not do that.

All dates usually have two square boxes around them, as in [[12 December]] or [[December 12]]. This means that you can set your preferences (if you look around your screen you'll see the word preferences. Just hit that and follow the instructions) to ensure that you see all dates in the format you want, whether dd/mm/yy, mm/dd/yy or yyyy/mm/dd.

The general rules on how Wikipedia articles are written can be seen in our Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Type in WP:MS and you'll see the page.

If you have any queries about all this, just ask anyone on Wikipedia and they will help you. Enjoy your time on the web's fastest growing encyclopædia (or encyclopedia, if you write it that way!). Thank you.

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. - Cheers -- Wiki me up™
