[edit] Welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia
Hello, Zephyr2k, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you are happy editing here and being a Wikipedian. Some helpful pages to start you off are Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents and Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines.
If you want to meet and talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Just remember that you should sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.
We have a special page that describes how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.
We are also focusing on core articles until this Wikipedia grows. This list of topics will help show the types of topics we want most.
Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, do not be afraid to be bold! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later.
If you need any help, send a message to an administrator on his or her talk page. Administrators on Wikipedia will try to help you with your problems and resolve them as soon as possible.
You might even want to join Esperanza if you want to help the wiki to become a community.
Finally, if you have any questions on how things work, don't hesitate to ask me. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. Good luck and happy editing!--TBCΦtalk? 19:29, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for tagging The Reluctant Dragon. However, next time, dear Zephyr2k, please nominate it nominate it here. Thank you.--Tdxiang @ 10:14, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Anon warning
Hi, I personally think it suits the job adequately - the idea that you're not supposed to be posting those kinds of articles, I think, comes through in the message. (And I think they know they're not supposed to be doing it, too.) Cheers, Tangotango (talk) 05:52, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sure, I'm not against the idea of creating new templates for useful purposes, and it would be for the better if we were able to inform article creators that their creations were up for deletion. (They might be more inclined to revise the article, for example.) - Tangotango (talk) 12:20, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Travelling Salesman Problem
Hello, Zephyr2k. YOu tagged the Travelling Salesman Problem as unsimple. After a note of Netoholic I tried to simplify as much as I could. DO you still see the page as unsimple? if so, what passage? thanks -- 08:25, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- What I meant by the sentencxe you quoted me with is to give a definition of an NP-hard problem. If the problem can be broken down into smaller problems (of size), they will have at least the same complexity as the original one. For a little background, see [en:Complexity_classes_P_and_NP], [en:NP-hard]. But be warned, complexity theory is rather mathematical. What basically wanted to say is that if you manage to break down a problem into smaller ones, all they will be is smaller in numbers, not less complex. Also be warned that there is a whole branch of combinatorial opimisation (comp.sci.) thaz does nothing else but find a good way to solve TSP (and simlar problems) -- Eptalon 01:02, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Double redirect
If you go to Special:DoubleRedirects you can figure out what they are, and help fix them all...! Blockinblox 22:20, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- I see Blockinblox has explained it to you. They are pages which happen to direct to redirects, accidentally (usually they are). If you want to make redirects, here's a little tip from me:
#redirect Article name
There! Hope you understand its usage and see you soon!--Tdxiang @ 09:43, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Anti Vandalism
That was really quick! Thank you so much!--Tdxiang @ 04:12, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] It appears you have a fan
Cyberstalking Zephyr2k has been going around reverting edits you made. He got around 25 of them which I was reverting back faster than he could change them. I alerted Archer7 about the vandal. Creol 17:35, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Very cool, are you an admin here?--Tom Riddle 23:07, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Is it less clicky here? I found on the EN wikipedia small groups can make pet projects out of certain articles and not let any new editors in their click.--Tom Riddle 23:12, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

see http://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Estonia&action=submit how do I put a boarder around the flag? There is a white stripe on the flag and it blends into the background.--Tom Riddle 00:11, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, hope I am not being a pest?--Tom Riddle 00:32, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Adminship for me? Not yet...
Dear Zephyr2k, thank you for voting in my Rfa. Netoholic has concerns. As such, I will not be pormoted to administrator status. However, I do not hold it against him. Once again, thank you for voting!--Tdxiang 02:30, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Troll
Sure. I was just reverting the edits. I thought he was blocked, you see. The IRC channel showed it.--Tdxiang 05:20, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kid friendly?
I was previously asked by another user whether Simple WP is kid friendly. I'm assuming it is since the target readers include children, but since EN is not censored, then I thought EN would also be the same. Just wanted to know so I'd be able to answer any future queries. Thanks in advance! zephyr2k 05:53, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- I would say that right now, it is not totally kid friendly. We have pages like Profanity, pics on Breast , and so forth. I do not think we are required to follow EN's philosophy, and perhaps could get some interest in making "kid friendly" part of our guidelines. I think we would just need some discussion about it. Perhaps you'd like to take the lead in getting a discussion started? -- Netoholic @ 05:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- If this WP is kid friendly depends a little on what limits you impose. As stated above, some of our articles contain information perhaps not suited for children. On Condom there are pictures of an erect penis, too. On the other hand, they will find out some day. I dont think it is a good idea to do a self-infliced censorship here, just because some kid might find out a few years too early. -- Eptalon 10:53, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- I strongly disagree with Eptalon... Some degree of self-inflicted censorship is exactly what will be required in the long run. In this way we can avoid content that has no redeeming value or purpose, other than being calculated to deliberately attempt to solicit or misdirect the instincts of the most susceptible in society. On the other hand, information that is looked up by request - when someone has a legitimate professional or scholarly interest in such information, that has a real informative purpose other than to erotically enflame - should be accessible. We aren't specifically "kid friendly", but I don't think we want to let it become known as "kid UN-friendly" either. Kids should ideally be allowed to have a childhood -- and most people of any age don't wish to see content designed solely to provoke anti-social behaviour; that is why "self-inflicted censorship" (with a healthy dose of common sense) is always the best kind of censorship. Blockinblox 14:28, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- I agree with Blockinblox. I think we're about right on the level of censorship at the moment though. Archer7 - talk 14:34, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Please note: discussion will be continued on the Wikipedia:Simple_talk page. Thank you! zephyr2k 18:10, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship
Sorry to ask, but, would you consider adminship? You are a good user and editor, I consider you highly. Think about this please! By the way, the pictures on the articles of er... private parts {eg this: Breast} are a little disturbing featuring human life pictures. --AbbyItalia03:42, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, we do not provide censorship, AbbyItalia. We give facts. And to be an admin you need email, but poor Zephyr2k's email is blocked. Well, it's up to Zephyr2k. I will definitely support adminship.--Tdxiang 03:45, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for the support. But right now, I can't accept the responsibilities of adminship due to security issues. I'm still working on WP through a public computer. Perhaps when I get my home PC hooked up I will. Thanks again. zephyr2k 20:55, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
