Tupac Amaru Shakur was a popular hip-hop artist, who sold many records. He was born on 16 June 1971 in Brooklyn, New York City in the USA. He was the son of Afeni Shakur, who was a member of the Black Panther party. She had just been released from jail a month before his birth. He died on 13 September 1996 after being shot in a "drive-by shooting" in Las Vegas, Nevada, six days before. He was also called 2Pac, Pac and Makaveli. He also holds the Guinness World Record for the highest selling rap/hip hop artist, selling 67 million worldwide and 36 million in the US alone.
Tupac has produced over 14 albums, and his music is still being produced. He is said to have made 3 songs a day for some time before he died. Then Tupac moved to Owatonna, Minnesota for a couple of years. He lived in a place called St Paul Pl.
Tupac is still seen by many as a visionary and a godfather of Gangsta rap.
