There are three common states of matter. These are the three physical forms that matter can be found in. (There are also other states of matter, such as plasmas, but these are usually not found on Earth outside of scientific laboratories, but some are common, like fire.) The three common states are solid, liquid, and gas.There is a fifth state, called Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC),w hich is a state of matter when atoms are supercooled, overlap and act as one.
