Hello, Slgrandson, and welcome to the Simple English Wikipedia! I hope you will be happy helping here. You should begin by reading these pages: Wikipedia:Useful, Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines, and how to write Simple English articles. If you want some ideas of which pages to work on, read Wikipedia:Requested articles or the list of wanted pages.
Even though it is a good idea to research an article (like looking at the discussion page) before making large changes, please be bold and try! Any changes you make that are not perfect can be fixed later. We are also working most on core articles and the most common topics until this Wikipedia grows.
If you want to ask a question or talk with other members, you can visit our version of the "village pump" at Wikipedia:Simple talk. Administrators on Wikipedia can also help you with more difficult problems. You can also ask me for help. The best way to do that is to leave a message on my talk page. You should always sign your messages on Talk pages by typing "~~~~" (four tildes) at the end of your words.
Good luck and happy editing!
If you need any help, send a message to an administrator. They will try to help you with your problems. A list of administrators on this site can be found at Wikipedia:Administrators.

[edit] Your Request for Adminship
If you want to be an admin, go to wikipedia:admins, and place your request there, unless you already have. Private Butcher 18:12, 20 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Template:All-movie, Template:Rotten-tomatoes
These have been deleted. The sites they refer to are too commercial in nature. -- Netoholic @ 07:53, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] laugh
Grow up! hahhahaha. -- Netoholic @ 02:53, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi Slgrandson, you flagged my article on phasors for deletion,
Thanks for removing the flag. I am going to work on the page to describe phasors a little bit more (the mathy side) but it sure is hard in simple english :).
Slgrandson, what is your major in college? Judging by your age, are you in your second year? I would love to talk to you about engineering if you are one.

[edit] "Info req"
Why are talk pages "requesting information" marked for deletion? I thought that was one of the main reasons talk pages existed...
I don't like deleting any talk pages, because they act as a sort of pressure release valve to stem off cruft from the article itself, while its true that its not a sandbox, still comments or questions that are relevant or asking for information IMO don't need to be deleted... Is there really some policy that says questions about a subject can't be asked on a talk page? Blockinblox 18:32, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- I went ahead and removed those "immediate deletion" tags from the talk pages that were just asking questions - however simple - about the article; because 1) I couldn't find any policy covering this, and 2) Looking through the log that shows the last 1000 deletions on the wiki, I didn't see where any talk pages had ever been deleted for that reason; although it's true that a couple of main article pages have been deleted under "info req", because they were merely asking questions. If there is any reason you want a page deleted other than those listed under "immediate", please use the other deletion template, where it goes to discussion first. Thanks, Blockinblox 20:41, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RE Ash Ketchum et al
Please don't. Besides being totally counter to Wikipedia:Core articles, it has a very limited audience/importance. Until we have articles on such topics as domesticated animals, fictional characters seem a luxury we can't afford. I purposely kept myself from mentioning your movie articles, as you at least set a notability perspecitve by using the AFI lists, but I have my limits. Regular EN is discounted by teachers as a 'legit' reference source among teachers due to the over abundence of fic artices--I don't want Simple to go that route--PLEASEEEEEEE let's stick with 'real world' articles for now. Compare the detail of en:Brian Griffin (a great read for a Family Guy fan like myself) to the lack of historical detail at en:Igloo. Since 'Wikipedia is not paper', Igloo should be the most informative article on the web--instead it's not much more than a placeholder. Bottom line, if it doesn't matter to a tribesperson in Zimbabwae, we probably shouldn't have it. Freshstart 08:07, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] popups
How do you ever use pop-ups on this wiki?! So far I've only seen it in action on EN, but is installing it here the same? I think so. --Slgrandson 22:17, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Slgrandson, it's the same. Really they help very much when vandal fighting and disambig repairing. Ugur Basak 22:45, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] vandal
The guy's first edit was this diatribe. Please don't waste time with {{test}}-style warnings when a new account was created so obviously just for vandalism. -- Netoholic @ 19:07, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hmmm...
Tell me what was so offendive in my summary, and how it was against Wikipedia's rules in any way? --84.249.252.211 00:09, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RE: A major matter to deal with here...
I have blocked at least one of the usernames, and other admins have blocked others as they've been created. But a regular admin cannot look up the IP addresses that were used to create those user accounts, so only an active bureaucrat, i.e. Netoholic, is technically able to block those IPs. Also, if they are coming from a non-fixed IP (such as all AOL users), it would be against policy (as well as being ineffective) to block them as the blocks would effect non-vandal users. [edit] User Name
Hello, i'm QuakeRanger. I wanted to inform you that i created Commoner to test the Sockpuppet Template, and i have redirected Commoner to QuakeRanger now, since it's the name i use on the Italian and English wiki. I hope it's not a problem :) QuakeRanger 21:00, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Babel boxes
The Babel boxes have been renamed to conform to a new scheme. Please remake your boxes or change the references to fit with the new standard format. The old boxes will be deleted. Ask me any questions on my talk page. Thanks! --Cromwellt|talk 03:23, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Hey, thanks for welcoming me. I, by trade, am an English Wikipedian but I decided to come here to help. Hopefully, in no time there'll be 10k articles! Computerjoe 10:06, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WikiReader
Would you mind taking a look at my WikiReader proposal on Wikipedia:Simple talk? I think it could be a fantastic way to go for the Simple English encyclopedia. Archer7 15:59, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Barnstar
Here's a barnstar for all your excellent work. You've really done a lot to help us out. Archer7 | talk 12:00, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the welcome
Hi Slgrandson, thanks for the welcome! Feels kinda wierd to make your first edit all over again :P. I'll try my best to pull myself from en to contribute here. Also thanks for your support on my RFA. BTW are there any scripts like popups I can add to my .js here? Thanks --Srikeit 15:48, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] SYSOP
Currently I am runing to become a sysop. The main reason why I want to become one is to better help in the war against vandalism, I believe in tougher blocks against vandals and after the 2 time they vandaliz an article I will impose a ban on them. I have a lot of free time so I will be a active sysop. At one point I had a average of 50 edits a day, now I have a average of 30 because I was busy and not able to edit. If you have any questions ask me on my talk page please. to vote go to Wikipedia:Administrators. Have a nice week and god bless.--Sir James Paul 21:05, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
