Richard I of England (September 8, 1157 – April 6, 1199) was the son of Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine, two famous people in the history of England. In 1168 he became Duke of Aquitaine. He was one of the leaders of the third crusade against Saladin. He was stopped many times on his journey to Jerusalem, which never actually succeeded. He may have been a homosexual, and was punished for sodomy twice. He fought in the Battle of Acre and the Battle of Arsuf. He got shot with an arrow in the arm. A doctor tried to help him, but the shot got infected and he died. He was a very brave and noble king.
