PlayStation 3 is Sony's third video game console. It was released in Japan on November 11 2006. It is due out on November 17 2006 in North America, and will be released in Australia and Europe in March 2007. It will be going against the new Microsoft Xbox 360 and Wii consoles. Sony's previous console was the PlayStation 2.
The console will be sold at $499 with a 20 gigabyte hard drive and $599 with a 60 gigabyte hard drive.
The PS3 is the most powerful seventh generation console, but more expensive than the others.
It is the only seventh generation console capable of using Blu-ray discs.
