Diana Ross is a famous American soul-music and pop singer. She was born in 1944 in Detroit, Michigan in the USA. She worked as a secretary for Motown Records in Detroit, and first became successful with a Motown group as The Supremes. The Supremes were the most successful act on Motown in the 1960s, selling millions of records and allowing other African-American musical acts to become famous with international audiences.
Diana Ross had a successful solo career from the 1970s on, and is a high-paid concert performer. She also starred in three films: Lady Sings The Blues, the story of the blues singer Billie Holiday; Mahogany, a story about a fashion designer; and The Wiz, an African-American version of the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
