Borussia Dortmund (short: BVB) is the most prominent Sportsclub of Dortmund, Germany, especially noted for its football team that plays in the first Bundesliga.
Besides football, the club has hand ball and a table tennis departments Since the end of 2004, the club also has a fan section, which represents the interests of the team supporters. The official name reads ball play association Borussia 1909 registered association Dortmund and frequently shortened with BVB or BVB 09. The sixtime German football champion is one of the preeminent teams of the German Bundesliga and an institution of the Ruhr Valley (Ruhrpott) and Westphalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen).
