Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) is a free version of the UNIX operating system. It was developed (and is still being developed) in Berkeley, California, USA.
There are many free different kinds of BSD that many people have worked on. Some of them are NetBSD, FreeBSD, and OpenBSD.
