Kemíčni element (tudi kemična prvína) je snov, ki je ni mogoče z nobenim kemičnim postopkom razstaviti na enostavnejše sestavine. Kemični elementi se delijo na kovine, polkovine in nekovine, nekatere je mogoče dobiti le umetno. Najmanjši delci kemičnega elementa so atomi.
