Volcán Osorno
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Volcán Osorno is a 2,661 m (8700-foot) tall conical volcano in the Osorno Province of Chile. It stands on the southeastern shore of Lake Llanquihue, known worldwide as a symbol of the local landscape. It was used as the backdrop for promotional photos and video in Motorola's 2005 global advertising campaign for the PEBL mobile phone.
Interestingly, this mountain has an extremely similar appearance to Mount Fuji.
Charles Darwin glimpsed Volcán Osorno from a distance in the course of the second voyage of the Beagle, and in fact witnessed its eruption in January 1835. As of February 2006, this eruption remains its most recent.
