Unterseeboot 183 (usually abbreviated to U-183) was a German submarine built during World War II. She was one of the so called "Monsun boats" or Monsun Gruppe, which operated in the Indian Ocean from Japanese bases in occupied Indonesia, mostly Penang. She did six war patrols, and was sunk days before the war's end, by american submarine USS Besugo, at the Java Sea. Only one crew member survived.
She was commisioned in April 1942, one of the first IXC/40 boats, somewhat larger and faster than the IXC type.

U-183 was in the first wave of the Monsun boats, departing from France in July 1943, arriving at Penang in Oct 27th. She operated in the zone for almost two years before she was sunk just about the war was going to end, in Apr 23rd 1945.
