Twothirtyeight

Twothirtyeight is a former band that has been classified as indie rock as well as emo. Neither of these genres fully encapsulate what Twothirtyeight was.

Beginning around 1995 in Pensacola, Florida, Twothirtyeight released three EPs independentely and began growing in popularity. After signing with the now-defunct Takehold Records in 1999, Twothirtyeight released the full length album Missing You Dearly; the album was dedicated to their former guitarist, Kevin Glass, who died in a tragic car accident in 1997. After Owen Grabo left the band, they recorded the "Matter Has A Breaking Point" EP as a 3-piece, with Chris Staples on bass and lead vocals. Next, bassist Jake Brown entered the fold, and they wrote/recorded Regulate the Chemicals. This was released on Takehold during a summer of extensive touring. In January of 2001, Jake Brown left the band. The band switched record labels in 2000 and signed with Tooth & Nail Records; it was on this label that they re-released their sophomore album, Regulate the Chemicals, as well as their final album, You Should Be Living. Chris Carrabba, notable as the former lead vocalist of Further Seems Forever and principal artist of Dashboard Confessional, contributed backing vocals to two of the songs from the album "Regulate the Chemicals". Additionally, each of Twothirtyeight's final albums was produced by James Wisner, who has also worked with Further Seems Forever and Dashboard Confessional.

In April 2003, Twothirtyeight decided to call it quits after eight years of music making. The band members dispersed on a good note and went on to pursue individual dreams. Notably, lead vocalist Chris Staples is currently the head of the indie rock band Discover America.
