Tread Lightly!

Tread Lightly! is a non-profit organization in the United States which was originally started by the United States Forest Service in 1985. Management of the organization was transferred to the private sector in 1990 in order to maximize the program's effectiveness. The mission of Tread Lightly! is "To empower generations to enjoy the outdoors responsibly through education and restoration."[1]
Funding for Tread Lightly! comes from individual member donations as well as donations from corporations, dealerships, clubs, retailers and other organizations. The organization also has a number of federal partners including the National Park Service[2], Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and Army Corps of Engineers[3].
