Toxandri

The Toxandri were a West-Germanic tribe who settled in nowadays North Brabant (Netherlands) and Antwerp (Flanders) during the first centuries after the birth of Christ. The only thing that is known about this tribe is its location (it was described shortly by Plinius in his Naturalis Historia).
In the middle of the fourth century the Franks settled as foederati in Toxandria. It is not clear if the Toxandri were driven away or merged into the large west Germanic federation of the Franks. The last seems most likely.
