From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am Todd661...and this is my userpage! It is a work in progress. Hopefully one day soon, it'll look nice.
I am the self-appointed watchlist for articles about the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. My aim is to have substantial articles about the region. I know this is a long way off! To help me keep track of the articles I look here.
[edit] My Current Projects
I am currently trying to get these three artciles up to GA status and ultimately FA - but knowing me, I will get bored long before then.
I am also attempting to have a non stub article for all Central Coast suburbs.
[edit] Shopping centre articles
I would like to propose a standard for entires onto Wikipedia about shopping centres. I believe shopping centres should be have their own articles only if they contain enough information on the building structure and centre history to be at least a non stub. I believe that Shopping Centre articles that fail to meet this criteria should be an entry – at most – of 1-2 paragraphs in its suburbs article.
The potential for Shopping Centres to violate WP:NOT#DIR (have a look here) is much higher than other articles. In many cases the Shopping Centre article has more information than the particular suburb it is in.
[edit] What am I going to do about it?
I am slowly going to start organising some example articles to help my cause, while also attempting to get feedback to see if people are generally in favour or against. This might erase some of the damage I did earlier on by creating a few tacky articles about shopping centres. Todd661 05:37, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Deletion of Aussie Pollie stubs
I am very concerned about the recent deletion of around 50 stubs on Australian politicians. These articles lay the foundation for what Wikipedia will one day be..."a multilingual free encyclopedia of the highest possible quality to every single person on the planet in their own language" (Jimmy Wales). This however will not happen overnight. I draw parallels to my own project on Central Coast, New South Wales articles. 90% of the suburbs are stubs. But these stubs encourage anyone to edit. Even trivial information has a place on Wikipedia. It should not worry YOU if the articles contained very little information, but you should be happy that the articles had information. In many cases these articles only needed an infobox and they would have been reasonably adequate. In closing I ask anyone who has supported their deletion, that you reconsider your vote by visiting this page: Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2006 September 30#Albert Piddington (Australian politician) Todd661 10:13, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
