Goals:
The Bill of Rights PSA Project is on track to reach the stated objectives, first in Tucson, then Arizona and finally all of the United States. The plan includes:
1. Produce 80 Public Service Announcements for broadcast on radio and television. Ads will feature famous Americans from eight categories reading one of the first ten constitutional amendments making up the Bill of Rights. Categories to include: Government Leaders, From The Left, From The Right, Sports, Entertainment, Music, Religious & Cultural Icons, and Business Leaders. Create at least one additional set in Spanish.
2. Produce a 60 minute show for public television nationwide to feature each of the living Presidents of the United States speaking on the subject of what the constitution means to them.
3. Develop a comprehensive web site containing the Declaration of Independence, The Federalists, Anti-Federalists, The U. S. Constitution, and The Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, without comment, edit or addition. Site will feature downloadable and streaming PSAs.
4. Partner with a print publisher to develop a DVD with book entitled "These Are Your Rights: A Guide To Americas Founding Documents". All proceeds from sales to go toward civic education.
5. Produce a television documentary series providing the history of the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the journey to bring this project to the public.
6. Remain strictly neutral in political matters while presenting the original texts without comment.
7. Facilitate national dialog on the Bill of Rights and Constitution through press releases prior to and during the PSA Campaign and media excitement generated by the use of famous Americans
8. Turn over all tapes, documents and other pertinent material to museum at Constitution Hall at close of project.
On The Air
Thanks to Rich Strong, the first of The Bill of Rights PSAs have been made and played for radio. The PSA spots have been played at least 500 times in the Denver area. The list of participating stations is sure to grow now that a download site is available for radio stations to acquire the PSAs in .mp3 format.
