Theo's Gift is a sixth season episode of The Cosby Show. Aired for the first time on October 19, 1989 this episode reveals that Theo Huxtable has dyslexia.
[edit] Plot Summary
Theo studies long and hard for a mythology exam with Justine, and seems to have a good grasp of the subject. After taking the exam, he is disappointed to learn that he only received a C on the test. Theo finds that he can't understand why he can't seem to do well in his studies, and is tired of working hard just to earn mediocre grades. Theo says that with the exam he just took, he could't understand most of the questions.
Soon Theo decides to go to a learning center for testing, to see why he is having such a hard time with his studies. Cliff and Claire later accompany him to the learning center, it is there that they learn that Theo may have dyslexia. The diagnois is soon confirmed, and Theo starts treatment for his condition. Much to his and his parent's delight, Theo shows rapid improvement after beginning treatment, and he predicts that he will soon be earning A's.
