Thelwall

Thelwall is a small close-knit village in Warrington, North Cheshire, England, several miles from the Lymm junction of the M6. It borders Lymm and Grappenhall, and (across the Manchester Ship Canal), Latchford.

As part of the Warrington South constituency, Thelwall is currently represented by Helen Southworth MP in the House of Commons. It also has representatives on Warrington Borough Council and Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council.
[edit] Warrington Borough Council
Thelwall returns officers from the Grappenhall and Thelwall Ward to serve on the Borough Council, and are allocated three representative seats. The current Councillors representing Thelwall are:
- Councillor - Miss W. Johnson (Liberal Democrat)
- Councillor - Mr E. Lafferty (Liberal Democrat)
- Councillor - Prof. E. B. Mawer (Liberal Democrat)
[edit] Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council
Whilst misleadingly named, parish councils are not linked to the Church of England, and simply serve as a civil body responsible for local affairs. The Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council consists of sixteen elected officials serving a term of four years, currently all sixteen Councillors are members of the Liberal Democrat party.
The following is a list of those members representing Thelwall Ward on the Parish Council, including the current Chairperson of the Council who is a serving representative of the Thelwall Ward:

The village of Thelwall contains two schools, the first is Thelwall Infant School which is aimed at children in Key Stages 0 (Reception) and 1 (Years 1 and 2). The second school is Thelwall Junior School which targets Key Stage 2, children between the ages of 7 and 11. The Junior School is considered primary education, and is a satellite school that feeds Lymm High School, the nearest secondary education institute. There are also pre-school nurseries are both the Infant School and the Thelwall Parish Hall.
