The Mathematical Intelligencer

The Mathematical Intelligencer is a mathematical journal published by Springer Verlag that aims at a conversational and scholarly tone, rather than the technical and specialist tone more common amongst such journals.

The book Mathematical Conversations, published by Springer in 2000, selected twenty articles from 1980-2000 from the Mathematical Intelligencer, and organised them into seven parts:
- Interviews and Reminiscences
- Algebra and Number Theory
- Analysis
- Applied Mathematics
- Arrangements and Patterns
- Geometry and Topology
- History of Mathematics
The book appears to have been intended both as a collection of the best of what the journal has to offer for collectors, and as an introduction to the journal for new readers.
