The King's School is an independent Anglican boys school in Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia. It is a member of the Great Public Schools of NSW and it is one of the oldest, continually operating school in Australia, having been founded in 1831. The school is located in North Parramatta, running along Pennant Hills Road, near Lake Parramatta.

[edit] Uniform
Kings has a uniform which is recognised for its uniqueness across Sydney. It consists of navy trousers with a militaristic red, vertical stripe; white shirt and grey/red jacket. The Kings uniform is generally seen as 'militaristic', owing to many elements of the uniform being like a military dress code. The jacket is replaced in senior years by a white pinstriped navy blue blazer or a sky blue Honours blazer.
[edit] Co-curricular activities
Co-curricular activities include debating, choir, musicals, bands and ensembles, sport, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and many others. These include senior intellectual clubs (The Twelve Club, The Cartesian Club, the Scipionic Circle), Woodwork, Metalwork, Bridge, Crusaders.
The school also has its own theatre, in which student and old boy productions are held. Every year the school puts on musicals and plays with Tara Anglican School for Girls. Recent musicals included The Pirates of Penzance, Les Misérables, Guys and Dolls, South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, The Mikado.
[edit] Cadet Corps
The school also has a Cadet Corps, which is one of the oldest and largest in Australia. Every year at the end of Term 2, the Cadet Corps performs its Annual Passing-out Parade, which marks the '"passing-out" of the senior cadets (the officers in year 12), and the handing over of leadership, including the Colours, to selected Year 11s who lead the Corps for the next year. This is an event that attracts the attention of thousands who come to watch the formal procession, usually presided over by a high-ranking member of the Australian Defence Force.
One of the central elements of the Passing-out Parade is the Marching Band. The cadences of the Drum Corps provide the beat and rhythm for the march. The band marches annually at the ANZAC Day parade in Sydney.

In rowing, the school has won the GPS Head of the River 15 times, and the Schoolboy VIII at the National Rowing Championships in 1982, 2001 and 2006. It also won the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in 2001.
The rugby union 1st XV has won numerous GPS Premierships, including recently five of six years (1997-2000 & 2002), and the Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament in Japan in 2000.
In 2006 the 1st Basketball team were GPS Premiers, and the Football, Rugby Union and Cricket teams runners up. The 2nd XI Football team won the GPS Premiership, the first Football Premiership in the history of the School.

The school's 120-hectare main campus is located on the outskirts of Parramatta. The main academic precinct of the school was renovated from 2000 to 2004, introducing a new architectural style and significantly updating existing buildings. New additions included a new classroom block, an extension to Futter Hall, a new staff centre and The Centre for Leadership and Learning.
Sporting facilities include 15 cricket fields, 13 rugby fields, 12 tennis courts, five basketball courts, five soccer fields, two climbing walls, 50 m and 25 m swimming pools, gym, and an indoor rifle range. The school's boatshed is in Putney, on the Parramatta River.
Current building projects include the construction of a new gym and art block and the renovation of all day houses.

The school has 14 senior school houses, for both day-boys and boarders. All houses are provided with buildings. About 40% of the school population boards. The boarding houses are Baker, Bishop Barker, Broughton, Forrest, Gowan Brae, Hake Harris, Macarthur and Waddy. All activities, such as study recreation, house meetings and pastrol care, are done within the houses. The day-boy houses include Britten, Burkitt, Dalmas, Kurrle, Maquarie and Wickham. These contain mainly lockers and space for meetings and recreation.
Kurrle and Wickham are the newest day-boy houses, both established in 2001. This was a result of the strong increase of day boys and a small decline in boarding enrolments.
