"The Creature in the Case" is a novella written by Garth Nix. It centers around Nicholas Sayre, a character from Nix's Abhorsen Trilogy. It is the lead-off story in Nix's short story collection Across the Wall: A Tale of the Abhorsen and Other Stories, and was originally published separately for World Book and Copyright Day 2005.
